Do Not Order "Free Trials"!!!

I didn't actually read through all 47 pages of this thread so if someone has already mentioned this - sorry.
Isn't it possible that these scams, due to all their public ads, could really do us harm with the FDA situation? How many complaints does it take before a squeaky wheel gets greased?

Exactly!!

They are all messing us up along with the companies that claimed that e-ciggies are for people to quit smoking..

All would be fine with the FDA now if no company ever mentioned "quitting"..

If they boasted it as a "smoking alternative" then it would have either been ignored or set aside into the health food/ holistic field and the FDA has no jurisdiction over them...

They would have never been tested and whomever (NJoy or whomever it was) that had the nasty glycol (not propeleyne but the bad stuff) in their carts (no matter how little the amount) would never have been found, plus the company should have known better than to put that stuff into them to begin with..

Only takes one or two companies to screw things up for everyone...

Plus How many drugs are given to the public that are approved by the FDA that ends up killing or maiming people yearly?? Alot!!

New York Metro area is filled with all kinds of "free" trial offers.
It took about one year before I considered switching to ecigs.
Anyway, thanks to numerous "free" offers, I started my research and landed on this forum.
All started with annoying SmokersSavior's radio adds - thanks to them now I smoke 5-6 analogs per day instead of 18-20.
I didn't use (of course) "free" product. Thanks to posters on this forum I started with V4L and happy with my choice.

Thanks for the heads up. I notice high priced e ciggs at many places online, even in the local mall they have the basic models selling for over 120 bills! I recently got an email stating they will give you a free setup just by clicking "here", needless to say I don't believe anything is free..

:)
Yeppers.. Meanwhile people are not only spending all that money just for the initial purchase they are spending on buying the carts since they don't know you can buy your own juice and someone in here mentioned that at many sites you sign up for an auto shipment of carts...

It's great that these exist, but it also amazes me that there are people in the world that never look deeper into this stuff. It's not like it was difficult for any of us to find the forum (or others, or reviews on YouTube, or bogs, ect)..

Thanks for the heads up, there was/is an advertisment that a company is at one of our local tabacco shop for free trials and cheaper prices. When I tried it they only had 3 flavors at all and one strength. On top of that the price was 80 something dollars (that's the cheaper prices) and you only get 1 batterey 10 carts and 1 charger. That's insane. I am glad I found this website and vendors here!!!!! Saved some dough.

Another good reason to stay away from mall vendors: they obviously care nothing about their product, nor helping people. I realize there are always exceptions, but I've personally seen them trying to pressure non-smokers into buying starter kits! I was appalled (maybe it's just me)! I couldn't believe it, they're basically saying, "Here, come get addicted to nicotine, as long as I can make a few bucks in commission!" They just suck, in my opinion!

Im in the uk and we are looking at a ban in september.
Even though I'm in the US, I had found a site that you can email someone up top to post something to them concerning the ban along with your signature... I signed it about a month ago..

Look on YouTube for "electronic cigarette ban in uk". There are a number of videos, about it and how to get to that url for the petition..

Good Luck.. It's completely unfair

hahaha, i know its not funny. I fell prey $80 plus shipping and handling, wait it gets better the 20 prefilled carts were all 0nic i didnt know til the second cart and im going insane needing nicotine, so i called them. this company said they are a NRT thats not what i wanted grrr. anyway i started playing with it i found i could refill the carts ok so i keep it and wash the poly filler im messing with the atty and the bridge comes out the mesh falls off, i cant get it back together right so i call they are more than happy to send me a new kit. it was easy enough to cancel my auto refill subscription they signed me up for, without first offering it to me at half price. ok heres the good news im now vaping with a 510 and a manual battery. the radio ad vp s came with a 5v auto battery i dont like the auto so much but its a nice backup since my 510 atty fits. I still wish i would have saved the $80

I agree with this post. I ordered a so-called free started kit for shipping only. After about a week I received another automatic shipment of carts in the mail and a bill for $89.95. I did not order the carts and sent them back with a note to never again send me auto shipment stuff. The vendor said the charge was for the starter kit and the carts were gratis. I am disputing the charge on my card now. By the way the starter kit included (1) mini battery, (1) atty, (10) prefilled carts with 4mg juice and a charger. What a rip off! $90.00 for that??!!!

I have had a similar experience with a so-called "free" e-cig offer, and figured I'd put in my :2c:. Luckily I discovered this forum before my "free" $80 starter kit arrived, so I kind of knew what to expect. Also, I declined the auto shipping which turned out to be a wise choice. Upon arrival of my starter kit, I looked it up by part # to discover I could buy the same kit online for $5! I shipped it back immediately, without even opening it and recieved my refund a couple of weeks later. The whole thing worked out well, and after plenty of online reviews and plenty of time browsing this forum, I have ordered my first quality product. I've chosen Totally Wicked's "Tornado" and am sure I'll be pleased.

Totally stoked! :D
Happy vaping!

To all new members that are thinking about getting into the world of PV's (e-cigs)...

Do not order "free trial" offers. Most of these companies offering so-called free trials are thought of as scams by most members of this forum.
I use the word 'scam' loosely, as they are operating under all the policies and conditions laid out in the fine print of their contract, so they are a legal operation. However, the shady practices they use qualify them as scams to me.

They will suck you in with the offer of free goods. Then, once they have your credit card number, you're hooked. After the 'trial period' expires they will charge your card for the device. Usually charging way more than the device is selling for elsewhere.

They will also start you on a plan to send you a supply of prefilled carts each month and automatically charge your account.

Many of these are selling inferior models at triple (or more) the cost that they can be purchased from one of the many suppliers listed on this forum. Do some research on this forum, and determine what model suits your needs best. Then make an informed purchase from a reputable supplier.

If you have already purchased and received one of these 'free-trial' offers, return it immediately! The trial period typically starts when they ship the product not when you receive it, so you don't have much time to act once it's in your hands.

Moderators: Can we get a sticky on this subject? It doesn't have to be this post, but this warning should be one of the first things prospective new users see. These scammers are giving the whole industry a bad name.

Edit Note: To anyone wishing to reply to this post and share their experiences, that will be helpful to others as well. However, please refrain from calling out any company by name. I would hate to see this much needed information have to be taken down due to posts that break any forum rules. I think just mentioning a company as a "free-trial supplier" is enough to cover all such companies. There are many of these companies out there now, and some even seem to change their name on a regular basis. The one that advertises on my local radio station has altered their name twice in the last 6-8 months, yet have the exact same script in their commercial (with just the name changed).

Glad you put this out there. I agree with you.
