Hi guys/girls

So the question is do you just clean your new tank rta/rba/sub ohm tank or do you actually wash it or are you just like ad juice and start blowing huge plums ?!

When i buy a new tank i just strip as far as i can and then only take toilet paper and wipe as good as i can, i dont use water and scrub away.

And maybe why do you go all out or why not.

I disassemble the rba entirely including the positive block, peek insulators, screws, and o-rings. Then I wash everything in dish soap, rinse with distilled water, and dry.

I use a big bowl of hot, soapy water. I've tasted machine oil on an atty once and won't do it again.
When i started vaping bought the smok vape pen 22 and didnt know alot so i just juiced it up and starting enjoying this new wonder product.
But while vaping i watched you tube vids and heard about a few guys talking about the oil on the new produts so after that every new tank i got i wiped off, i never had oil on my products.
But rather safe than sorry :)

In recent years it seems that many manufacturers have run their product through a bath of some sort that removes the machine oil smell we use to hate. Liquid dish soap in a hot water solution seems to remove it best. If it smells like oil when you get it, hot water in a bowl with dish soap dissolves it.

If you have an ultrasonic cleaner that's the best way to clean an atty. Take it apart and drop it in the cleaner with warm water and a drop or two of dish soap liquid. A squirt of denatured alcohol in the UC won't hurt.

Depends. All my Kayfun's were immaculately clean but I still rinse them first and lube up the O-rings. On the other hand I think I've used every Aspire tank I ever bought straight from the box and most RDA's are good to go. But I've had some clones that were coated in so much machine oil they needed a full decontamination.

Every new tank gets a thorough cleaning that involves scrubbing. Solvents and or lubricants are used in the manufacturing process – just from quick inspection, some companies are better than others at cleaning their products prior to packaging. But without knowing their processes, I perform my own to ensure my equipment is meeting my standards. On top of cleaning all the greasy solvents out, I also ensure there are no foreign debris left in the atomizer. On one occasion I have found metal shards inside an atomizer.

I've actually just started washing my new kit in soapy water. I always used to just build and go until one day i got this horrible taste which just wouldn't go away....I think it was machine oil.

Anyway if you think about it most things that you buy for human consumption/use tell you to wash before use eg glasses, processor basin, plates etc...why would an RDA be any different.

Dove liquid detergent in a bath of boiling hot water and a cold rinse after along with air drying. Dove is amazing at removing grease and oil. Don't take my word for it but ask all the ducks and wildlife cleaned after an oil spill.

I clean a new tank with isopropyl alcohol then rinse with hot water.
X 2 for the Isopropyl alcohol. I dulilute mine with some distilled water. 70 iso 30 distilled. Read somewhere about straight iso having possible effects on O rings. How true it is I'm not sure but straight iso drys my skin out in an instant, the 70/30 doesn't, but still evaporates quick enough. So I like to think if its kinder that way on my skin it will be too for the seals. I actually use the same on a cotton bud to wipe the outside of my new coils as well.
I dont know how tanks are assembled but I think, if a person did it, did they wash their hands after crapping, did they have a flu? Maybe it was machine assembled, but I dont know. Either way, I'm going to put this thing up to my mouth and inhale, I want it clean.

Most o-rings are made of Buna 70 (also called NBR 70 or nitrile). According to this chart, Buna 70 has a satisfactory resistance to ethanol and a fair resistance to isopropyl alcohol. Ethanol is also less toxic. I don't think it's a big deal, especially because you are rinsing, but you might consider using ethanol instead.

O-Ring Compatibility Chart

In a laboratory environment, instruments are general washed with detergent and rinsed with distilled water. If it is contaminated with bacteria, it gets bleached before washing in detergent and rinsing with distilled water. Some might rinse with 70% ethanol but probably mostly just to speed drying. To really sterilize metal instruments they are autoclaved.

I thought they used Dawn for that.

I worked in a factory and although our products looked clean when they shipped out, they were far from it.

Now I’ve never seen an atty factory, but I’m going to treat them as if they were made in a similar environment. Better safe than sorry.

But then I wash everything washable before I use it the first time. Dishes, clothes, etc.
