Hey All,

So I just got my first e-cig in the mail yesterday (DSE 901) and have already burned through my first cartridge. I also only had two analogues in that span of time (would have probably had at least 15 by now)!

So my question for those who have been vaping regularly and are no longer using analogues...

Aside from just knowing that what you are doing is better for you, do you feel healthier vaping than you did while you were smoking?

Do you still have a morning cough?

Can you breathe better when getting exercise?

Any new bothersome side effects appear since starting vaping?

Any smoking side effects you never noticed before disappear since vaping?

I ask because I have already noticed that the VG liquid is harder on my throat than analogues were. It was pretty hard to replace my morning cigarette today with an e-cig because it hurt my throat so much (maybe I haven't started vaping correctly yet? nevertheless, still didn't have an analogue.)

I also ask because my main reason for quitting smoking is to get rid of shortness of breath. I'm an avid outdoorsman, and whether it is rock climbing, backpacking, or kayaking, I always have to take more breathers than my non-smoker friends, meaning I am slowing them down.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You'll feel plenty of recovery from your analogs just give it time. Your lungs will clear up and you'll lose that hacking cough. As far as the harshness of the liquid...you might just be averse to PG-based juice. Try to order some non-PG/VG juice and see if that helps. I can say however that the first two days my morning vape would really irritate my throat. This should lessen once you have a coating of PG on the back of your throat. Just grab a glass of water. Remember your first analog and how badly your body wanted to reject it? Your body will adjust to this new habit in time as well. Only this time it's well worth the trouble.

Edit: I found this thread really informative when I was getting started:

No more morning (or any other time) smoker's cough. I can BREATHE! The only "side effect" has been curbed by adding more fiber to my diet ('nuff said there).

There was a very slight learning curve for me... in how to "vape" as opposed to "smoke". There was a subtle difference -- but at first, I had moments when it seemed like the vaping was too strong. I'm at a nice nicotine level now, and have no desire to return to analogs. However, I would like to get to 0mg of nicotine at some point. But for now, I'm cool.

Hey All,

GJ :)

For the most part
Do you still have a morning cough?
Only when it's muggy and humid and icky outside
Can you breathe better when getting exercise?
Exercise??? What's that? This is my exercise :p
Any new bothersome side effects appear since starting vaping?
Only the jitters I get when I vape too much too long and i get that energy rush like I just downed 15 espressos and the fact that my appetite has shrank significantly
Any smoking side effects you never noticed before disappear since vaping?
Ummm I'm not sure how I'd know they disappeared if I never noticed them before???
But if you mean ones that most people don't realize.... the skin on my face has cleared up..less blackheads and other nasty crap like that that was a nice little bonus.. i guess its the lack of the smoke smacking you in the face 20x a day for 8ish minutes straight.. i suppose its to be expected

I ask because I have already noticed that the VG liquid is harder on my throat than analogues were. It was pretty hard to replace my morning cigarette today with an e-cig because it hurt my throat so much (maybe I haven't started vaping correctly yet? nevertheless, still didn't have an analogue.)
VG shouldn't hurt your troat.,.. the 1 time I tried VG I threw it out because i thought it was way too weak compared to the PG... Odd

I also ask because my main reason for quitting smoking is to get rid of shortness of breath. I'm an avid outdoorsman, and whether it is rock climbing, backpacking, or kayaking, I always have to take more breathers than my non-smoker friends, meaning I am slowing them down.
I would think that once your totally transitioned away from analogs your lungs would clear up... last time I converted to vaping from analogs after about 3 weeks I noticed I could go up and down the stairs without huffing and puffing anymore... I honestly haven't paid attention this time.. when I go home.. I'll make a mental note and let ya know :p

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I've always got input.. but it's rarely appreciated :D

Think it will take time to heal all the damage I have caused over the years using analogs,, can say I feel calmer for being off of analogs, feel I do have more options for choices instead of only feeling analogs is the only choice... That deep seeded panic is gone.. That would be the main thing for me,, is that sufficating panic about needing analogs,, isn't there anymore... I never had that before when trying to quit analogs in the past.. So the e cig has made a difference for the one thing that held me back before.

I do feel healthier. It isn't a dramatic change yet, but I do feel it. I've cut down to half a pack of smokes per day from my former 1+ pack per day (with the only reason for not stopping entirely being bad planning on my part and not getting enough 'consumables'...about to run out and I'll be back to smoking tobacco for a few days, UGH). Anyway, my wife comments that my complexion looks a bit better -- better color. I'm definitely not coughing as much. I don't care if this is mere auto-suggestion. If it is, I'm happy to be auto-suggested into not coughing...

After about 2 weeks my lung capacity appeared to be twice what it was while smoking analogs.

Zits totally disappeared.

No more chronic headaches (at least two a week) I average one migraine a month and I've been off analogs for almost 3 months and have not had one migraine.

I can now jog and not feel like my chest is going to explode.

My stamina in the bedroom is much much better.

Smell has returned but my taste buds seem the same.

I'm in a lot better shape than I was before I started vaping, cough is gone, which used to be chronic. Breathing has become so easy I can barely believe it! I didn't start exercising or anything but people comment on how much better shape I seem to be in ..and I am! ♠

E-cigs is the best thing that EVER happened to my health

I've been vaping since May 10th. I stopped using analogs for 40 days. It's the longest I've ever gone without missing it.
I was dumb enough not to have a back up! I gave all my other ones away once I got my SD because I love it!:hubba:
Since then, I went back to jogging, having more energy and acutally thinking about what I'm eating since my taste buds are back. My sense of smell is more keen (maybe too keen) and i don't miss smokeing anymore.
My SD started to act up, so while I wait for my new SD so that I can go back to vaping, i had to retreat and go back to smoking.
I'm tired all the time, I'm grouchy, I haven't gone back to jogging.
My non-smoking friends ask me why I just don't quit smoking and the only answer that I can give is:

"If my boyfriend who is a non-smoker and loves me to death can scream at me 8-o to go take a smoke break already, you know what kind of a monster I can be when I go through withdrawals "

So, yes I feel much healthier vaping. I enjoy it, it gives me the same satisfaction as smoking without all the other bad stuff.

Well, its now been 16 days and some odd hours, and yes, big difference in how I feel. Still waiting for the coughing up nasty stuff thing though, but after being a chain smoker like forever, I imaging it will take time to start. Lung capacity has increased slowly though and I can wake up finally and not feel like I have emphysema. I remember that horrible feeling that used to scare the pants off of me first thing in the morning 8-o. Good luck and keep at it!
FYI I sometimes add up the hours, as of this post its been about 403 hours without even 1 smoke! Simply amazing.

Its only been 10 days for me and I already feel worlds better. I know longer have the morning cough that I had when trying to take a deep breath when waking up. I also no longer have the morning nasal congestion; which is nice!

Biggest difference is (more of a mental than physical health): NO MORE STINK! I live with my g/f, and 2 other roommates. 3 of us smoked (we all vape only now), but no one smoked in the house (a big no no), and I didn't even realize how bad I smelt until the stink was gone from my person.

Don't notice any difference in the taste of things nor the smell of things. But the cough is GONE and has been from almost the beginning. I do seem to be able to do more and not get winded. I too am eating a little healthier, just because one goes with the other I guess.

All in all the biggest thing is I feel REALLY good about myself, oh yeah, AND I don't stink anymore and my mouth doesn't taste terrible.
