As far as I can tell, in my state (NYS) it's perfectly legal to vape everywhere except 100ft of a school entrance.

So more public vaping here I come!

(Also weird note while looking into this, in NYS it's currently legal for anyone of any age to buy ecigs until 1/1/13)
(NYC has other laws, that I have not looked into due to my location)

So in New York city, It's illegal for anyone to buy a Big Gulp at 7-11 (now that they have size restrictions on sugary drinks), but a five year old can buy e-cigs?

I do. Never had a bad comment and only rarely even a curious question. Been in bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and though I didn't intend to, in a grocery store - then I remembered that we used to smoke there, too. No problems from others so far. I'm not blatantly blowing billowy clouds around, but I'm not trying to be stealthy either. My friend likes to blow clouds and invites comments. He just may have converted somebody by now.

So far I've only seen one other person besides my friend and myself vaping in a non-smoking bar.

The vapour does still have a scent still,so you have to be careful you dont offend someone, some flavours more than others

Well, I might be offended by somebody objecting - or their perfume - or their clothes. We all have the same [lack of] rights to not be offended. I encourage courtesy, but it has to go both ways.

Yeah I feel the same way about vaping in non-smoking areas, I just don't like attracting that kind of attention and then having to explain myself. If I do however absolutely have to in a non-smoking area I just blow the vapor straight down or something lol which probably looks even more sketchy, like for an instance in the mall the other day xmas shopping i was sneeking rips the whole time.

LoL, thats kinda my point... Laws are weird, BUT as long as its LEGAL ill do it, and 'wait' to be asked not to, then ill point out that im not doing anything illegal, then if still asked not to, ill respect that (if asked nicely).

Vaping wont go mainstream unless we all take the steps to not hide it.

When I first got reading-glasses (right on schedule, at age 40), I was very "stealth" about using them. Only when absolutely necessary. And for sure, as rarely as possible in public. ;) When I first started vaping, I felt about the same way, ha!

Now, my only reservations regarding vaping in public have to do with the fact that I live in Amerika. If I lived in a free country, I would vape openly, with pride! But when Santa gets arrested for writing on the sidewalk with chalk... I dunno, so much...

Not yet a guy who vapes but I am considering it to help smoking cessation. I have decided that I will most likely follow the rules for smoking that I do now. Not in restaurants or bars (may give it a try in a bar or private club) or other places where smoking is banned. Won't vap in front of my little grand daughter or my daughter when at her home. Will do it in the car, at home, and other places where I smoke now.

I also follow the rules of smoking while vaping. Its a respect thing. Although I do get positive feed back and a lot of questions about it from people who don't know about vaping. I was at an event and was vaping while a friend was smoking. Her daughter walked up and asked what I was doing and I told her I was using a fake cigarette. She looked at her mom and said "why can't you fake smoke too mommy?" She said she couldn't afford it. I laughed and tried to explain it was a whole lot cheaper but as with some people they just don't think its as good.....

I'm feeling the militant urge to do it in places like airports but am still stealth vaping in those venues if at all.

Smoking in airports and on airplanes is the main reason I bought my first (really bad) e-cig 3 or 4 years ago. I vaped freely in the airports, but stealthily on the planes. I haven't flown since July 2011, but there were no problems at all and I avoided having a nicotine fit.
