I've not been a smoker for almost 20 months now. At this point in my journey I'm no longer addicted to nicotine from smoking or vaping. I still enjoy vaping and see no reason to stop vaping at this point. I do still occasionally use some nic in my juice because I choose to, not because I have to.

I am clueless as to if what I read a while ago is accurate or not but it is the theory that I am choosing to go with. If one could be smoke free for 5 years they had a really good chance of staying smokefree for the rest of their lives. Certainly not a 100 percent chance but a really good chance statistically. As long as I continue to vape there is no way, no how I am ever going to pick up smoking again. Smoking is similiar to being an alcoholic in that we are always in danger of returning to our addiction if we are not careful. But neither does it mean we "have" to return to our addiction if we take measures to prevent it. When I reach my 5 year point of vaping without smoking I will evaluate if I wish to continue vaping or give that up.

If for whatever reason I could no longer vape tomorrow, I am certain I would not return to smoking immediately. BUT without the possiblity to vape IF I felt the desire to smoke again, unfortunately as much as I'd like to say I would never ever smoke again I would be foolish to guarentee that fact yet.

I always felt so bad when I smoked them in the first place, but I couldn't stop. To be done with them has really been a self-esteem boost for me personally.

This is still a great question for everyone to ask themselves. Answers will always vary. ;)

When I was smoking, especially the last couple of years, I had the feeling I was a second class citizen. There was that sense of guilt lighting one up, but I couldn't stop doing it too. I don't know that I've gotten over that feeling yet, even though I'm closing in on a month without the the analogs.

A lot of good answers so far.

Most everyone is addicted to something, unfortunately nicotine has a severe social stigma, and we'll likely never rid ourselves of that.
There are powerful forces trying to transfer that stigma from smoking to nicotine.

But there are a lot of smart people working on disassociating nicotine from the smoking stigma.
And progress is being made, and seems to be accelerating.

Don't count out the idea that the truth will win out in the end.
And take a look at what CASAA is doing, because they fighting on the front lines for all of us.

Not a non smoker but a ex smoker,Fire safe cigs made sure of that!tobacco shops in this area were notoriously bad at keeping any decent tobacco.
If Pv's were outlawed tomorrow,I'd happily be a outlaw, but I could not smoke another cigarette.

I'd probably go with snus till they got outlawed too. :|

As a result I am able to take advantage of many things that I now thoroughly enjoy - like exercising and multitude of other activities.
Seriously.

When I was smoking, I could not hold my breath for much longer than 30 seconds.
Now, almost three years later, I can hold my breath for at least 100 seconds without too much trouble.

Well today marks one month without analogues :)
If it weren't for my PV I'd be on the reds tomorrow. And yes I know they stink (I never realised just how much). And yes I would be livid with myself while I lit up. But that'd be it - I'd be straight back on 1 PAD.
So in answer to your question - It's very early days and I consider myself to be "in transition". I also still consider myself to be in the process of quitting and still have quitting symptoms. Having said all that - for as long as I have my VP there's no going back :) I hope to be able to come back in a year and say I'm a non-smoker.

Inasmuch as vaping involves no combustion and no smoke production whatsoever, yes, I consider myself a non-smoker by definition. The truly amazing thing about vaping lies in the fact that it mimics smoking to the point of allowing a 30 year smoker like me to stop without qualms. The more I learn about it the more convinced I become that this here is revolutionary.
