Do you consider yourself a smoker still?

I use nicotine but I don't inhale smoke particles. Vapor is my habit and it's actually likely to help rather than hinder my lungs, according to the AMA. Hospitals are introducing PG fog into HVAC to encapsulate airborne germs and weight them down to the floor where they can be mopped up.

My doctor is extremely pleased with the fact that my ecig has taken away my tobacco. I'm now a non-smoker who consumes low levels of nicotine, a product that is said to aid in boosting the mental faculties of the elderly.

The smoking part of my doctor's questions consists of, "Still not smoking? Good. Still using your electronic cigarette? Good!". Then, he moves on to the next question on his list.

I'm down from 24mg to 12mg and headed lower.

Technically, I'm not a smoker since I don't smoke. But I'm interpreting this question to be more of an identity issue. For those of us who've smoked for 25+ years and pretty much always considered ourselves smokers, it can be hard to just drop that part of ourselves. I get the importance of not referring to ourselves as smokers anymore. But if I'm going to be honest ... I'm still addicted to the hand-to-mouth action and the inhale/exhale and the plumes of smoke/vapor. I've replaced a paper/tobacco stick for a metal/juice stick. So it's hard to tell my brain sometimes that I'm a non-smoker even if what I'm inhaling isn't smoke.

I'm a non smoker.

I believe the description in the first post was written with the technicalities of the law in mind. ie, an e-cigarette isn't medical nicotine replacement therapy, it hasn't gone through the FDA, etc, and you can't say it will help you quit (I believe). So they explicitly say it won't help you quit.

but me? I'm not selling anything, and it helped me quit like nothing else has in the past.

Fact: Vendors cannot claim that ecigs can help you quit smoking. We, as consumers CAN make that claim. We can and SHOULD shout it from the roof tops, metaphorically speaking.

I am a former smoker that is just like Flux. If they took away ecigs, I would drive over anyone in my way to the cig store. Even though I've gone more than a year vaping and have lowered my nic, I'm still a recovering smoker. I'm no longer a participating smoker.

I've given this a lot of thought and right now I'm a vaper and not a smoker. Legally, I'm a tobacco user since these are still classified as a tobacco product. I'm nicotine dependent not cigarette dependent.

Suppose a heavy drinker swaps beer for non-alchoolic beer, exclusively... for five years in a row.

Is that guy still a 'drinker' ? :)

I've been using exclusively a smokeless-alternative to tobacco cigarettes for almost five years now... so, I think is is both unfair and inaccurate being called a smoker...

(Of course, some of the junk-scientifically accurate 'studies' we see out there, sometimes may classify as 'smoker' someone who quit cold-turkey 20 years ago. They do it when they're trying to stretch statistics their way. Do not trust anything they say...)

+1 I'll agree with that wholeheartedly. Even though I've just started this journey I wouldn't have made it this far without the vape. Patches, gum, lozenges, chantix, none of the "approved" nic replacement therapies ever worked worth a damn.

i wish i knew what metaphorically meant before i fell off my roof. my balance was good, but shouting at 4 AM may possibly not have been the best idea i've ever had....especially in a gun friendly state. luckily, my neighbor is a terribad shot.

Hmm metaphorical. To not actually do what I said, but is used to describe an action.

Metaphorically speaking means what you say is not to be taken literally. It is a way of speaking that uses figures of speech or tangible objects to represent an intangible quality or idea e.g. 'your eyes are like the stars'.

Please stay off of your roof!

Damn... I just realized what a metaphore is...

(Time to beg for the neighbor's forgiveness... I've been making that claim for three nights in a row... )
