I see your location is Back in the Hollar. Is that close to the crik? I have probably lived close to you, or have family in your area. Ha! Anywhere in the hollar, you can find an RC. And Cheerwine! Man, I love that stuff too!!

I actually work at Virginia Tech, Go Hokies! Cheerwine is delicious also. Have you tried the Cheerwine filled Krispy Kream doughnut?

I remember these signs. Notice the price of cigarettes at the bottom. Lots of stations sold cigs cheap to get you to come in and buy gas. Gas was commonly 35 cents per gallon ... less during gas wars.

Wow…that's two things I hate that just can't go well together (for my palate). Seriously…krispy kremes taste like sugar and air and cheerwine tastes like candy drawberries with more sugar and cough syrup.

I really don't understand that.

Despite living in Atlanta for………sixteen years……my palate is still that of a damn yankee; red meat, potatoes, pepsi, dunkin doughtnuts…………and insanely spicy asian food. But that's just good.

I remember gas at 89c/gal in the 90s. Man…those were the days. Now, a tank of gas costs more than a lot of very half-decent mods.

Oh yea! Of course, I have to get out of the main town to get them. Matter of fact, I go to the VA/NC border station store and can still find them in glass bottles. Small glass bottles, but, glass none-the-less.

Dag nab it!
That's why I can't find them!
I'm down here in Florida which has now become the capital of Yankees!

I remember smoking areas in high school. Our class president called ours "The Pit" because it was in a small courtyard under the building next to the cafeteria and was very dingy. But, that was much better than the year before when I first started smoking. The smoking area that year was a grassy, uncovered area behind the gym.

I remember seeing a single cigarette (a Lucy) for 10 cent at the corner deli.

Wow, a Lucy (or is it Loosie?)! For those who don't know, that's a single cig sold from the pack if you didn't want/didnt have cash to buy a pack. They still have them at certain corner store vendors in the city. Used to be a quarter and only Newports back when I started smoking. I figure they're probably a buck or so now.

I used to buy single cigarettes all the time back in the day.

I remember when they stopped selling them that way.
They said it was due to health regulations, and selling something that had been opened.

So I had to start buying packs instead.

Thanks again Nannies!!
