I never craved cigarettes after I started vaping. It was really surprising but smoking for me had a lot to do with the deed more than nic addiction. I would smoke two packs a day on working days vs 1 pack a day on my day off. I think ex-smokers are more sensitive to cigarette smoke. Once you get your sense of smell back it kind of stinks. Studies suggest nicotine is good for the brain just not smoking.
The remarkable protective effects of nicotine – the addictive chemical in tobacco – on the brain are continuing to surprise scientists. One recent study has found that one of nicotine’s metabolites, cotinine, may improve memory and protect brain cells from diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Another new study shows that nicotine can help improve some of the learning and memory problems associated with hypothyroidism.

...How long have you been vaping? 4 1/2 years exclusively
Do you still smoke real cigarettes? No
Do you still crave and/or enjoy the smell of real cigarettes
OR
Does the smell and idea of real cigarettes offend you? I don't crave and/or enjoy the smell, and yes, the smell and the idea of real cigarettes offends me.

I don't ever say anything, but the stench is awful to me now, whether fresh or stale.

After ~45 year of smoking, I never, ever thought I would be in this camp, but I'm grateful, because I don't ever want to fall victim to burning tobacco again.

Yeah I kind of made a vow to never be "that" ex-smoker. I am amazed I didn't get MORE comments from never-smokers, heck, even my mom (who HATES smoking) would let me smoke in her car.

She must have done a significant amount of praying about it, her three formerly smoking kids (everyone but my oldest brother, basically) have all quit (I am the last, LOL). Even her one smoking GRANDKID quit. :)

She takes prayer requests if anyone wants to win the lottery.... :)

My partner gave up smoking via hypnosis which did jack .... for me....but worked for him.
I had 2 years of him wafting his hand in my face every time i lit up....I am surprised he didn't make me wear a bell around my neck and live in some remote mountains. *rolls eyes*
(Nothing worse than an ex smoker!)

Then I moved over to vaping and much to my annoyance he STILL wafts his hands and does this BS performance of fake coughing from the vapor I produce and I wouldn't mind so much but I use an antiquated eRoll! It's not like I am cloud chasing with that am I?

Makes me want to punch him in his fat face quite frankly....lol I think he's ...... off because he missed the boat when he gave up...I think he resents that I can still enjoy something over him having to go cold turkey ..

I have offered him my e cig several times - anyone would think I was tempting him to inject ...... the way he runs off...

lol

Sheesh. Perhaps YOU need to learn hypnosis and "teach" the husband to be a nicer person. Or, hypnotize him into vaping 0 nic, but yeah that sounds a bit like jealousy to me... I was jealous of the husband still smoking but had to get over it and just let him be. Now, he is vaping. But if he ever wafted his hand in front of my face he might've gotten bitten. Not hard, but just saying. That would drive me ape, LOL.

My wife quit smoking with acupuncture. (She says that when she walked out of the acupuncturist's office it was as though she had never had a cigarette in her life.) She was a PPD or maybe 1-1/2 PPD smoker. She has always said that she didn't want to quit smoking, but only did it to help me with my attempt to quit (on one of the many times I tried to quit during my 45 years of smoking). That was about 30 years ago. I was back to smoking within a few weeks, but she stayed quit. (I couldn't try acupuncture for myself. It might have worked, and I was afraid that if it did it would f*** up my world-view.)

She also claimed that she would begin smoking again when she reaches age 70 (next year). I doubt it. She hates (now, and probably did for all the years when I smoked and she didn't) the smell of cigarette smoke, and spends a day laundering all her clothes, airing her coat, shampooing her hair, etc. every time she returns from visiting smoking friends.

After she quit, she was very good about not nagging me, even though I smoked in the house and my car. (I think I'll keep her.) I quit smoking in the house around 2008 when we moved to a new house (that had never been smoked in); I had switched to vaping by the time I got a new car.

I’ve never had a problem with the smell of cigarettes. But I’ve noticed that more than a few people I know aren’t fond of vaping and the smells. My wife doesn’t mind when I vape something sweet like Milk 2, or Black Note NET. But any fruit or cereal flavors she tells me to give it a rest. I’ve noticed other people react the same way. She smokes but less than 10 per day.

I still smoke a pipe every few days, and she never has a problem with me smoking a Cherry blend, or Spiced Rum.
