I kept cigs around for a few weeks after I started vaping. Oddly, it wasn't til i got RID OF THEM that I really began to enjoy vaping.

Analogs interfered with my vaping pleasure.

For the first 4 months I got an urge to smoke every now and then, mostly at the very end of the day. Then, that went away.

Now, the idea of smoking a cigarette absolutely makes me want to vomit. :)

Intox....Welcome to the forums!!!!

I have been vaping on and off for about 2 months. I have been without cigarettes (completely) for about 5 days now. So far, so good. I will be honest with you. I still get the urge to light an analog a couple of times a day. Like you, I went from being a heavy smoker (1.5 ppd, roughly) to completely quit for a week.....to be told that I was acting a little ".....y" to having a couple of them a day, hitting a life crisis upping the smoke total to "every other one" back down to ten....then back down to five.... In between all of this, I also hit a brick wall, having a huge set-back, finding out that I am either pg allergic or pg sensitive... then realizing that I was over-nic-ing myself. ugh. It probably does not help that two of my adult kids still smoke.

It has been quite the struggle. But....I know That it is worth it. It really is. One of the things that is really helping me is the fact that I have several clearomizers filled at the beginning of the day. Different flavors, different nic strengths. And I keep a "color note" on my phone to remind me which is which. That works for me. Little higher stress? 24mg. Coasting along, worry free??? 12-18mg.

Just remember, there is no one thing that works for everybody. You have to really just tinker with it until you find your groove. And this isn't a test, a requirement, a law. No one is forcing you to Vape, no one is forcing you to smoke. Both are legal, and both are your perogative. So relax, and it will get there when you are ready. Okay? Enjoy the journey. :2cool:

I cut out analogs cold turkey. (Aka, I finished the pack I had when my vape arrived.) That was 2 weeks ago. Do I still feel the urge to burn one? On occasion, yeah. Usually during one of my "prime burn" activities: waking up, driving, playing MMOs, after eating. I'd say after .... um, adult activities, but my hubby hasn't been home for me to check that particular theory out.

When the urge hits, if it's really bad, I'll vape a little more than "normal." I will say that I was up for over an hour this morning before I hit my device. I tend to vape more at night. But hey, I haven't had an analog in 15 days.

Everyone is different. Everyone has to approach this listening to their own body. Just because I quit smoking cold turkey at 12mg (PAD Marlboro Special Blend Lights habit), doesn't mean that will work for my husband. He has also been smoke free for two weeks, but had his vape for about 2 weeks more than I, and in that time (before I got my kit) went thru a pack and a half of B&M cigarillos. <Remove long boring story>.

We got a drive-by (what we call it when he's thru the area, but only for the night) on Monday, and we went out for dinner (w/ 1 kid) and enjoyed some taste testing of new juices before he had to sack out because he had to be up way early to make his delivery. It was nice not to kiss an ashtray.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker and am currently down to 5 cigs a day and have been vaping for about 3 weeks roughly. I just cant seem to drop those last 5. 3 of them are with my morning coffee. and the other 2 are after dinner.

How often do ya'll get the urge, and has it gone away totally for anyone yet?
Sounds so familiar!! I was about in the same boat and just said to myself...Do Not Buy Any More Stinkies....Vape,Vape,Vape...then the urge went away. I can truthfully say that "at this moment" I have no urge to smoke a stinky even when watching a few of my friends that still smoke and even when I have a few cocktails as I occasionally do!! Hang in there and welcome to the Forum.
Btw, I smoked 2 pad for 25 years plus

No urge for me. I also quit cold turkey. Then again, I was less than a pack per day smoker for a few years. Not to mention that I was really sick of smoking and really hate my house smelling like an ashtray. Since I've quit, I opened up all the windows in my house, let it air out, cleaned up or got rid of the necessary accessories (ashtrays). Should I mention that I smoked in one room in my house, or outside? Yet the ashtray stink permeated the whole house. This alone is a huge plus!

Not to mention, that smoking has just gotten too expensive these days and just getting more and more expensive. I happen to live in a "tobacco state", one of the cheapest states in the country for cigarettes. Yet its still too damned expensive!

I kind of miss it, vaping isn't "exactly" the same, but for me is close enough.

Anyway, enough of my rambling on... Going from 2+ packs a day to almost nothing is huge step! Good luck to ya!!

Don't worry. You'll get there. Personally, I think if you put less pressure on yourself, the better your chances to totally get off analogs. I haven't had a cigarette in a month but the half empty pack is still sitting on the work bench in the garage, the half carton is still in the pantry and the unopened pack is in my pocketbook. I know they're there for me so I don't feel pressure and that keeps me from touching them. I sometimes wonder how long they'll be there before I throw them away but I'm not gonna worry about it.

I still have the last, unopened pack from the last carton I ever bought three months ago.

I keep it on a shelf, periodically make obscene gestures at it, and gleefully await the thrill of watching slowly decompose over the next several years.

I smoked for 16 years at ~1 pack/day. I found vaping through my brother. He started a few months before me and I was chewing at the bit to start (pay day :glare:). I tried a cigalike he had on him one night while we were having coffee. Not until the cigalike went out on me did I even want a cig. I knew I was onto somethin'.

I'm new to vaping, but I haven't turned back to analogs yet (23 days!). Luckily, I don't have the urge to smoke at all. At times, I envision myself having a square (cig.), but that ..... doesn't even feel appealing anymore. Amazing!

The way I see it: even if you've cut-down on consuming cigarettes, it's a win-win. Remember how many you could be smoking...

I smoked 2 PAD for over 40 years. It took me a long time to completely switch from cigarettes to vaping. Months. Upping the nicotine helped a lot. I was plagued by cig cravings for quite a while. Several months after quitting I found some cigarettes in a drawer, tried one and it was horrible. Really horrible. I sulked for about an hour and tried another one. It was just as horrible. It was a little annoying to find I’d turned into one of those ex-smoker snobs who thinks cigarette smoke reeks. So be it, I keep it to myself. That doesn’t mean I don’t get a craving every once in a while but they are farther apart and remembering how awful it was helps a lot too.

For me it was finding late one day that I hadn’t had a smoke so just tried to make it the rest of the day and then the next and so on. But look at it this way, every cigarette you don’t smoke is a huge win for you. Don’t get frustrated, when the time comes you will lose the smokes. Keep up the good fight. :)
