One of the more ignorant posts I have read on ECF in quite a while.
I live in a very small town where people aren't familiar with ecigs so at first I would take my anolog look-a-like but then people thought I was smoking a real cig so forget that. Now I use my eGo or Riva when I'm out and about. I still get looks but they are just curious about it and know that it is not a real cig. I don't take my big mods out in public only because I don't like to carry a purse. I like my hands free and a big mod just isn't comfortable or practical in a pocket. I also make sure it's ok with management to use a PV in their establishment, usually a bar and so far nobody has said no. The only place so far that has said no is my bank.

I've been using my eGo 1000mAh with an eGo Mega DC carto attached (that's 160mm long) in public, no problems. When my PRoVari with extended cap gets here, you better believe that thing's going everywhere I go. If I ever get attacked, I can use it as a cudgel! 
I live in a small town so confrontation is minimal. When I get my fistpack it will be my primary device and my Riva will be a backup. Then again the fistpack is a smaller mod. I would be reluctant to pull out some conventional higher voltage mods that often look like pipe bombs.

i always vape in public. IGAF what others think. vape outside, vape in the car, vape at parties, wherever really. as long as its in a legal place then who cares. i stopped smoking cigs and i get less looks vaping than smoking. i converted a few friends already too so when we all go out even the regular smokers would rather vape on my PV than smoke their cig's.

I go out in public exactly like you do. I have a lanyard around my neck with a leather pouch and like to carry it that way. I have had some funny looks and folks asking what it is. I tell them, and some are fascinated - wanting to know more. Many have never heard of an electronic cigarette. Some who are smokers are really interested and have questions. Personally, I think that the Ego-T Type B large tank is a great PV at a reasonable price, and I have no problem in recommending it. The kiosks at the mall with the super expensive junk don't appreciate seeing it or the person showing it to others. Many of them sell junk starter kits for twice what an Ego-T starter kit sells for. By the way, the Type B large tank is the one I recommend. The price is reasonable enough for most folks, and it's definitely a great starter kit.
I'm ignorant because I think some larger e cigs look like the newer pot smoking devices.
I guess I'm not up to date on those devices. Many vapers want to distance pvs from cigarettes as it is their similarity to cigarettes that surrounds much of the objection to their public use and proposed bans.
By showing people that it's not smoking we make bans less likely.
I dont' carry my big Silver Bullet in public, not because I care what people think. I am scared I might lose the precious thing. But I will carry the equally large e power 18650. wasup man, youre real close to me, im at south torrance.which vape meets u go to? the socal ones? was thinkin of goin to one but they seem far. you know where and when the next one is at?

Excellent points. I get more positive comments and questions (leading to new vapers) using my Darwin in public. No one confuse me as a "smoker", which is what we all should strive for. I am in and out of courthouses each week, going through metal detectors manned by shreiffs. Amazingly, many already knew that it was a PV. Some never ask a question. Some have asked and wanted to know where they can get one for themselves or a friend/family member who smokes. No law enforecment officer has EVER thought it was a drug device.
Not at all, you're correct, we should all go back to smoking RYO tobacco cigarettes, those could never be mistaken for anything but what they are......
