when vaping went from people using eCigs to merely quit smoking, to extreme, big cloud, look at me, hobby vaping ... it was over on the public ever accepting vaping.

when I first started vaping in 2013, I honestly thought we would see vaping indoors at certain cafes, patios and pubs ... then, cloud chasing, hobby vaping took over and killed that from ever happening.

it's kinda like folks who would normally have a couple of beers ... are now chugging kegs of beer through funnels ... and still want the public to consider them casual social drinkers
This. 100 percent but cloud chasing has it's time and place, common sense people.

I don't have a problem with cloud chasing ... everyone is free to do their own thing.

however, I remember reading about a couple of bar managers who used to allow vaping in their bars, they had to ban vaping because the clouds from just a few hobby vapers would be so obnoxious, they had to force everyone outside to be fair.

Myself, I used to go to the odd vape gathering, held at a few local bars, they had to stop those because their regular clientele were put off by the sheer volume of vapour only a few vapers were putting out.

we vapers arent perceived any different than smokers here in my country, vaping arent allowed in no smoking areas, and I can respect that.

though public perception of vaping now is going downhill though because the authority recently found a number of drug-infused ejuice and people went like "see? vaping=drugs"

That is all we need is for a few bad apples like that to bring down vaping .

Perception is a two-way road.
Their perception of me influences my perception of them.
But as long as they stay off my case, I stay off theirs.

I also afford myself the luxury of not having an opinion when I don't know enough about a given subject.
There's a distinct line between not knowing and being (an) ignorant :D

Sure, folks got lifes to run, there aren't simply enough hours in a day to educate oneself on any- and everything.
But gobbling up pre-formed opinions to suit one's perception makes one perfect - a perfect serf that is...

So, if you wish to be perceived by me as a possibly sentient entity, then keep these 'worse than smoking' remarks to yourself :D

( I really need an aristocratly-arrogantly-raised-eyebrow emoji...)

5 years from now when there's a goat's head growing out of my left shoulder, you can bet I'll be back pointing fingers around here.:D

When is it supposed to happen?
I've been vaping for 4 years now, and mine hasn't started yet!
I want a goat's head too!

So I actually have a bit to share here..

I vape around people and they look at me strange, especially in airports if I can keep my gear on me.

When I vape at work people ask what this is and the conversation is automatically about vaping.

Last night I was out with a friend, and he didn't bring it up, which was cool, he was smoking cigarettes, I was vaping, we were talking like normal people, and because I was engaged in a conversation and my attention was not to vaping, I actually didn't vape that much.

People around me didn't pay attention since it was okay to actually smoke, so overall the experience was positive.

I guess vaping attracts abnormal behavior the more attention you give it, I won't want to blow a cloud if I'm having an adult conversation with coworkers, but if I'm with fellow capers having fun, we cloud the room until we get tired then we switch to something else and vaping subsides.

I come from a culture where hookah is acceptable and wanted, so when we're teens we want to smoke and blow clouds and enjoy the taste, after a while I stopped the hookah and switched to adult smoking ie cigs ,

Eventually vaping will take on a more mature position as well

I'm sure it's perceived as "the same as smoking". I've been told as much.

Given the choice between slowly killing myself by smoking and being merely perceived as slowly killing myself by vaping, I'll take the latter. I'm respectful, don't blow vapor in anyone's face, and don't really care how I'm being "perceived".

I feel like in New York the majority of people have an understanding that vaping is a safer alternative to smoking. Especially in more rural cities like Brooklyn and Manhattan, there is a vape shop within a mile where ever you go. It seems like many more smokers day by day are turning to vaping as an alternative. Of course you'll always find the ones who put vaping down but in a rural place there are many more smokers who are not looked down on because 1 out of every 2nd person is a smoker. Vaping is definitely less looked down on here than other places. Yeah vaping has its rules here like regular cigarettes but so what.

Yeah, couple real hick towns those two.

I live Upstate and vaping is very popular up here. I actually know very few smokers anymore which of coarse leads us to the new tax. I was a at a shop yesterday and they wanna fight it but I feel NY is already dead so why bother.

Stealth vaping is getting to be a bigger and bigger problem. I chuck huge cloudz, block out the very Sun I do. But I do it where I am told to do so. And I have zero problems. But at work with it being Winter we have had afew people fired lately for stealth vaping. And because I'm open about it sometimes I feel I'm being watched. I'm very open with the stealth vapers telling them if I see them I will turn them in in a NY second and likely beat the crap out of them also.

Let me explain.

We are a closed plant. Vaping is allowed only in smoking areas.

Smoking or vaping outside these areas means fired. No questions. No tearful stories. Just fired.

They know people stealth so they are watched closely. And always caught and fired. Not my problem.

But I feel they are watching me as well. In fact I'm sure of it cause they've said as much. They can't catch me cause I don't do it.

But soon they are gonna just ban it outright. Can I go 10 hours without nic?? Not sure and don't wanna find out
