Just thought I would share a little tid bit. I had occasion to visit my Family doc of course she asked her standard question ( she always tries to be so sweet about it) " Still smoking? I replied, "nope haven't had a cigarette since March 1st," I didn't want her to gush too much so I told her about the vape - she said "oh yes the ones with a little nicotine - much better for you than smoking"

nice to know even in little old Nova Scotia some of our docs know about vaping!

My doc was absolutely flabbergasted to learn I had FINALLY quit smoking... I'm sure he thought, as I did, that I never would. Most of my last appt with him was explaining how my mod and atomizer worked.

His attitude: ANYTHING is better than smoking! He did ask if I would eventually quit vaping, as with other NRT; I said anything was possible, but that I didn't anticipate it, having smoked for 39 yrs. He said in my case that was probably wise, at least for a few years -- he has a LOT of geriatric-smoker patients, so he knows exactly how hard it is to get away from smoking, and then STAY away.

I would be willing to bet that Dr's are bombarded with significantly more Propaganda than the general public. After all they are the on the Front Lines battling the Evil Vapor Demon that is threatening BP and BT the 'Medical Profession's' bread and butter. If the front lines don't hold up the Castle Walls are the next stop.
Just me, I could be wrong.:)

My doc gave up recommending I try NRT.. he knew it was a total waste of breath. And much the same is true of many of his older-smoker patients.... So from his perspective, vapor is not evil at all, it's downright miraculous!

He's nearly 63, so probably hasn't got a lot of use for the AMA, being near the end of his career. I just hope he doesn't get any ideas about retirement in a couple years. :D

Big mistake. Just stop with "I quit cigarettes".

I thought about doing just that but I actually wanted to see if she was aware of vaping. I wasn't seeking approval but really more interested in her response. She is 25 years my junior and aware that I am a retiring RN. I have only had her a few years and rarely have need of a doc but anytime I have gone she has been gracious and efficient. Currently playing games with my gall bladder:)

Ive always had a good rapore ( sp?) with my Dr. ... when I told him I went to vaping, he asked about it, I educated him and he did some research ( I steered him in a distinctive direction).. he called me several days later and said I went in the right direction with my choice of vaping. He has even convinced several other patients to go to vaping to avoid smoking... when I was smoking and seeing him, he would ride my .... to quit ( since he was the one with the stethescope and I was the one weezing) once I had gotten into vaping and off the ciggies, he made the remark about how much my breathing had cleared up... I asked how much, and he stated that I sounded as clear as someone who didnt smoke.... and that was a medical proffesionals opinion... :)

Yep... when I had my appendectomy after 110 days smoke-free, even though I have asthma, I woke up from 45 mins gen'l anesthesia with my lungs clear as a bell -- when they put me under for TEN minutes when I had a c-sec, I needed 4 days of breathing treatments! Because I smoked!

You all actually go to doctors? Maybe I should try it too.

Yeah I'll be seeing my asthma doc in July, though I just saw him in November, but since my asthma had slightly worsened, he wanted a bit closer supervision. I really think the WTA has a lot to do with my asthma problems, because I vaped for quite a few months with zero asthma problems... until right around the time I added the WTA, then it mysteriously got worse. Hopefully it'll ease back once I'm done with the WTA in September.

My Cardiologist is thrilled I quit smoking and now vape; he recommends vaping to all his smoking patients.

My Internal Medicine doctor and his nurses are horrified I am vaping. They are reading all the BT propaganda. Quote it all quite well and in unison. But he had to admit my lungs are clear and oxygen levels at 99% so he shut up.

I saw a doctor last fall. Full blood workup, etc. Cholestrol good, BP good, mostly take 1 10 mg lysinpril daily. Lungs good. Back bad. Sciatica bad, hernia bad. I know when I go back it will be surgery time....
Back problems moving up to neck now....

That sciatica is a :censored:! I've had a couple of lower back injuries, partially herniated the disc at L4/L5, and ever since, a) I have to be very careful to always bend my knees when I pick something up off the floor! and b) that sciatic pain troubles me regularly, sometimes all the way to my toes. If my husband sees me hanging on to something and swinging my leg in an arc, he knows I'm trying to get the "pop" in my hip joint that eases the pain.
