Does a higher VG ratio make juice use up quicker?

Hi all. I just made a small test batch of my first DIY juice. It's 50% 18mg PG, 33% CVS brand VG, and 17% TFA Watermelon (PG based) which comes out to 67% PG and 33% VG and 9mg/ml.

I only made 3ml to start with, and it seems to be burning up much quicker than my vendor-bought juice, which I'm told is 80% PG and 20% VG. At least twice as fast. Is this because of the 13% more VG?

I made it 9mg to compare it to my usual 12mg and try to step down, but if it goes this much faster, then really I'm getting MORE nic than I was before in total... Right?

If any of this sounds noob-ish, that's because it is. Any advice would be appreciated. I think I'm going to make another 3ml at 12mg with 16% VG and try that once this first batch is vaped up.

Thanks!

I've never noticed such a thing.

I have noticed I vape less when I have to be using both hands.
I vape more when I'm thinking about a problem.
I vape more when I'm driving.
I vape more when the flavor "really hits the spot" at that moment.

I've vaped through 3ml in less than an hour. I've also taken 6 hours to go through 3ml. Didn't seem to matter what my PG/VG ratio was.

I get that. But I've been using 3ml every 24hrs like clockwork for months. At this rate it'd end up being 5 or 6...

I must be the odd one here, but when I make a 40/60 PG/VG juice it seemed like it took a lot longer to go through than a 70/30 juice. Seems like for me thinner juices vape faster than thicker juices.

Cheers,
Steve

That would be the normal expectation, but I think the OP's problem (and mine) is that the brand of VG we are using might be too thin to begin with. I never had this problem until I switched vendors.

When I lower my nic level I hit the pv hard and often, chain vaping, for a few days until I get used to the new lower level. Normal days usage for me is between 3 and 6 ml depending if I'm working or not, more opportunity to vape at home. Oh, and I use 50/50 mix always. It's extremely humid where I live, my vg is always nice and thin. Even now in the winter it's still pretty viscous. I think it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere, just my opinion.

Long story short, are you vaping more since you lowered your nic level? Or is it really just the difference in viscosity?

That makes perfect sense. I use Essential Depot VG and it's pretty thick. I'm also in Arizona so it's definitely not soaking up moisture from the air :tumble:

Holy crap what tank are you using and at what ohm/voltage?

If I use 5ml in a day chain vaping that's a lot.

I'm a dripper and I'm usually around 15 Watts. (Watts = V*V/R so figure up any combo of voltage and ohms you like, but I go down 13 and sometimes go up to 16 Watts depending of flavor.)

Can't stand tanks or cartos. It's all about the flavor and switching flavor often. (In fact I carry a number of 3ml bottles on me of different flavors. Usually takes me a couple of days to go through 5 of them.)

You're my kind of vaper Hoosier. I'm a dripper too. I tried tanks and cartos but they just don't stack up to dripping. I keep thinking something will be invented that will preserve the flavor of the juice and have the convenience of the tanks but thus far, I'm just not seeing it. I do have an invention in mind that I believe would solve this problem but I don't know what to do with the idea. :/

Ah, that's why I carry the 3ml bottles.

I can unscrew them with my mouth and one hand and while holding the steering wheel and PV in the other, I can find the drip tip with the small nozzle without looking at it anything but the road and a little squeeze dispenses just enough juice into the dripping atty.

It's even easier if I'm not driving, but I tend to do it the same way. It's so ingrained by now that I do it unconsciously. (dripping that is)
