It's funny you use the term, "treat yourself" ...that's exactly the kind of thing you hear from addicts who want something they know they can't/shouldn't have - dieters, 'ex-'drug users, 'ex-'drinkers, 'ex-'smokers, etc.

Just sayin'.

umm im an ex-smoker....... so yeah.

and there's no one telling me i cant have it. my question was only if others found it morally okay within themselves to do something like this.

it was worded that way intentionally.

I'm just over 2 weeks into vaping, and I am down to maybe 3 or 4 cigs per day. I don't view it as treating myself though... to me they taste nasty and really I'm pretty much done. Now, 'treating myself' to vaping ~ YES :D :vapor:

good :D that's the correct reaction you want from being that early into it :D keep it up :D

I have been 14 months smoke-free. However, my son and daughter wanted to "treat" me for a social night out together at a hookah bar. They know I've quit cigarettes, obviously, but they had already tried hookah and tried my e-cigs and told me they are quite similar in form and function. I was not quite sure exactly what hookah was, so I had to Google it.

It was a nice summer evening, and the hookah bar had an outside patio where we spent over an hour. They were correct, the experience of hookah was similar to vaping. Fruit-flavored tobacco through a huge water pipe. Surprisingly smooth.

I had no tobacco flashbacks or other side effects. I have no desire to smoke a cigarette, or to even try hookah again unless it would happen to be another social gathering with my children.

i haven't been to the hooka bar in a while maybe 2 years? but its really fun to go and very popular with college kids, i think its awesome that you got to go and do that with your kids :D and i think as a parent i would be honored (assuming your kids are still college aged) most kids at that age wouldnt be caught dead with their parents in a "hip" place like a hooka bar.

I don't deny myself when I want a smokey treat, be it a cig or clove or cigar or pipe. However I am delighted that at this point I don't see them as treats, especially not in the shadow of a super delicious vape! Every time I do say eff it and "treat" myself to some carbon monoxide I realize how very much I dislike the sensation of inhaling smoke, nowadays.

For all the clove lovers... if you haven't already YOU MUST TRY MtBakerVapor CLOVE!!!! I am not a huge fan of cloves but my gf and one of her friends love them and always smoke a few when they drink together. MBV Clove is such an accurate flavor it's ridiculous, right down to the tingle on your lips. Her friend does not smoke cigarettes and only smokes the cloves on occasion, but she really likes them. A few days ago she was over and we loaded up a eGo/clearo combo with clove for her to try... she LOVED it ;P

It was cool, she didn't set fire to a real clove all night! :)

I'm a divorced single parent, and I consider myself fortunate to have a great relationship with my college-aged children. I guess I'm still considered "hip" at my age. A few months ago I attended an alternative rock concert of my favorite musical artist (Muse) with my daughter. We have similar interests, but also respect that we have differing interests, too. I'm still the father and they are the children, but we're also friends.

Sorry to the OP for the :offtopic:

No, not in that way as I no longer consider smoking a treat.

I treat myself with new juices or tanks or other accessories to celebrate milestones of quitting. In general Im a big fan of positive reinforcements.

It seem like youre doing the exact opposite of that by rewarding a positive with something we all know to be extremely negative....even in moderation. I'd advise caution, that kind of behavior seems counter-intuitive and self defeating to me.

that does make sense.

One cig here and there, to me, is not "smoking again." So yes, I do have one now and then. Cigarettes are still pleasurable to me, but smoking them as a habit is not. I hate the smell, the dirtiness, and most of all, the way smoking makes me feel. My lungs are much clearer without them, my voice quality is coming back, my skin looks better. I don't crave them anymore, and I never want to get to that point again, so I'm cognizant of it during those occasions when I smoke a cig. When I have one, it's just one, not a whole pack.

To me it doesnt. I no longer find the taste of burning tobacco of any kind pleasant. Especially not when there are so many awesome flavors out there to choose from with my e-cigs.

If youre still "enjoying" a cigar every now and then your still a smoker, albeit an occasional one.The danger their is that one can turn into two and so on and so forth until youre smoking a cigar a day or more.

Id rather not take that chance personally as Im all or nothing kind of guy. If you havent already noticed my "quit" banner doesnt have a spot to justify smoking an occasional cigar or cigarette in it. :)

every once in a while when out at the bar or just hanging out with some friends i will "treat myself" to a nice Flavored Cigar or a Djarum Black.

I guess it's perceptual, so I can't comment on any else's psychological choice of "reward".

It's like my friends who eat junk food, which I don't, they consider a 'treat' to be something like....junk food or cake from walmart or a little debbie, and I feel sick to my stomach thinking about it LOL I just don't consider that stuff a treat, more like something I would do to punish my body (with high fat, HFCS, empty carbs, nasty white flour, white sugar, and high fat) eeks.

So I feel that way about anything analog now, I can sort of picture the cellular damage it is doing the moment I take a puff off a burning ash thing that is lit.

My mom used to think of her cigs as friends or something, I don't have friends who would give me advanced COPD or cancer, etc. so I guess i never understood this..I never never considered analogs my friends, I always felt that they were a curse
