Maybe VW is just a redundant gimmick; maybe adjustable airflow is a nitpicky detail. If I'm going to justify spending the money for top of the line, I want all of the bells and whistles. For $200+, I want a piece that is the epitome of the current state of vape luxury.

I have a feeling most ProVari owners would argue that you are getting just that! The epitome of the current state of vape luxury!

You really just have to try it... That's all I can say. IMO the ProVari is in the upper echelon of current devices, even with it being "dated."

It all boils down to personal preference. I like the design and versatility of the mini. 350, 490 or 650 mode whatever the situation or my mood dictates. Here's one of my minis in 650 mode with a Tatroe extension and the extended cap.

You are absolutely correct; it's compared to owning a luxury or collectable car, like owning a classic rolex... an amazing device with a remarkable reputation.

Tell me what regulated mods will provide you with the current state of vape luxury and still be around 1 year after purchase?

A Provari may very well not be ideal for you. They tend to attract a certain type of customer base. Someone who is more interested in a dependable, reliable, consistant, and durable mod that will perform every time at a high level of expectation, and that is repairable for as long as they own the mod. If you do not fit into this category, then the Provari is not for you.

Bells and whistles do very little for the quality of the vape. Puff counters? Hook up to the computer to view vaping habits? Why make a mod made out of plastic? Why make a mod whose connectors wear out after only 3 months? Why don't manufacturers focus on durability and vape quality?

Because some customers are gullable to shiney looks and meaningless features. The Chinese know that they can make something cheap and customers will buy cheap. Then when it breaks, they'll buy another.

With a Provari, you can buy once and cry once. But you likely will never regret it.

I appreciate the versatility of the mini... Something just doesn't sit right with me when I look at a mini with a tatroe ring and the extension cap. Why, oh why ProVape, can't you cerakote the extension rings you sell? I would like it a lot better if it were black the whole way down...

I guess that's why they still make the standard... :) For old geezers like me that don't like a break in continuity of color

I do trust that the Provaris have great build quality and lifespan. I only care about functions that serve an actual purpose. That excludes puff-counters and computer links. My main issue is this: ~Looks at Provari~ "Man, I wish I could afford that. If only it was up to date. Then, maybe I could justify spending that much on a mod... to my wife." If I can ever get away with spending that much, it had better be the damned holy grail of current technology. Otherwise, I'm liable to be dead before it arrives in the mail. Pregnant wives can be mean... lol

The current "as is" Provari will do whatever you need it to do to experience a great vape. Thousands of Provari owners can't be wrong when they say it was the best purchase they have made since starting. Justification for it's higher cost can be found with it's incredible durability and solid build quality. And in the unlikely event should a Provari need repair, it can be returned to Provape to be returned good as new within a few days, for as long as you own the Provari (@ reasonable service fees).

Think about that. No Chinese-made mod can be sent back to be repaired after warranty. Once it stops working, its done. Very few of these live to see past their first birthday. The original Provari's were made in 2010, and the vast majority are still being used to this day. Since they can be repaired for as long as you own them, this is a mod built for the lifetime vapor.

Standard Provari Service Repair Costs (post warranty):

Replace Window and screws- $10.00
Replace Circuit Board - $65.00
Upgrade to V2 - $20.00
Replace plastic pushbutton - $5.00
Repairs to the circuit board - $25.00
Cleaning - $20.00
Replace top cap - $15.00
Broken Cartomizer Service - $10.00
Return shipping within the USA - $5.00

It seems many Provari owners end up with more than one, and have both a standard and a mini. That is what I have. I use both in every battery configuration possible.

I have decided to buy the standard with the extension cap for a couple reasons,,,,,,,

1) I can kill an MVP v2.0 in six hours. that's 2600 mah. I vape a lot,,,,,,,,,,and I honestly can't even IMAGINE even bothering with any battery less than a 490. I'd probably prefer a 650.

2) I've held all of them, and I just really like the standard,,,,,,,,it fits well in my hands (I'm a girl, and I have average girl sized hands, not huge ones) and I liked the weight.

As far as the Provari being out of date,,,,,,,,some of us just want a quality vape that does what it's supposed to do and does it well, that can take a beating and still be in good working order in 2 years,,,,,,,,,,we don't WANT a bunch of fancy stuff,,,,,,,,we just want excellent quality. I have VW on my MVP and frankly,,,,,,,,,IMHO,,,it's superfluous.

I got nearly 3 days use with my MVP-1.

If I knew then what I know now, the ProVari would've been my first purchase. The money I spent on other stuff would've paid for 2 of them.

I think it's funny how all us ProVari owners are like honey bees waiting for the next flower to pop up... If there is a thread anywhere on this forum with ProVari in the title, we all gravitate towards it like a mosquito to a bug zapper...

Oooh, look at the pretty light!

:D

LOL!!! Then they need to stop putting ProVari in the title.

First of all, I would argue that the Provari is current state of the art. If you believe that Chinese variable wattage is state of the art, then you haven't checked the specs. The Nivel Chip and DNA20 have accurate variable wattage, but the DNA20 has not until recently been available in a tubular format and the DNA30 is coming out next month. I have the best tubular Nivel chip APV. It's a lot more expensive than the Provari too.

I felt exactly the same way you do, once upon a time. In fact, the way the Provari folks rush to defend the Provari was so annoying. However, I've been through most of the gear that's come out in the last year, lost many Chinese APV's along the way, tried more than 30 PV's and APV's and I just wanted something that was durable and super reliable and ended up with the Provari. If the Provari is not a top of line device, my question for you is, "What is?" The Semovar, Cyborg, Futura? The Semovar has a Nivel chip and a quality build and does have variable wattage. Is it better than the Provari? I don't think so, because it has not yet passed the test of time. I have one and love it, but it remains to be seen if it has the proven Provari durability, reliabililty, and warranty and repair issues that the Provari is famous for. Is it as accurate as the Provari? Yes. Is the build equal to the Provari? IMHO, yes. Is it better than the Provari? If it is, the difference is largely anecdotal and personally preferential. My three Provari's are my work horses. Both my at home and abroad APV's. Why? Because I don't want to leave the house without knowing that I won't have a problem with my APV. It's not like we can run to the corner store in an emergency. No one can argue that the Provari is not THE MOST DURABLE, RELIABLE, STATE OF THE ART TUBULAR APV ON THE MARKET, because it is. The Cyborg and Futura are dangerous purchases at the moment, given the rumor that the DNA30 is coming out on December 27, 2013. I want one, but with the new board. So, very hard to beat the Provari, possibly nothing else does. It is the state of the art in Vaping. No question about it. Provari Voltage regulation and accuracy trump Chinese variable wattage any day of the week, imho. Not even close. YMMV.

Regarding the accoutrements that dress up our Provari's, I love the many suggestions provided in the previous posts. I was not aware of the Hippo and/or the Twins, and have since ordered both in both brass and stainless from Vaperev and Vaperbar. Also, I have now ordered the Kir Fanis pieces from GR-Modders. I do have the Tatroes in stainless, a beauty ring and the Cingulum Compleo on the way. It's in Jersey and should be here by week's end. I can't wait:

Provari with Tatroe Rings and Base.jpgProvari Mini with Tatroe.jpgProvari Cingulum Compleo.jpg

I did find the Hippos and Twins at Vaperev at very good prices:

Twins (stainless): SS Twins
Hippo V2 (stainless): Hippo V2 SS
Twins (brass): Brass Twins
Hippo V2 (brass): Sold out in US (as far as I can tell) but in-stock here: Hippo by Atmistique | Vapebar

Others:

The Tatroes are great too: (bases in stainless or brass): Provari Tatroe End Cap
(rings in stainless or brass): Tatroe Ring Provari Steel
TrevVapor Cingulum Compleo: Cingulum Compleo Set für ProVari Akkuträger - TrevVapor
GR-Modders: Still have the Kir Fanis rings/caps/cones: http://gr-modders.com/117-provari-extension-capring.html
Also, I have and do like the Kayfun Provari cone/ring: Kayfun PV Cone

OP: I would recommend the Mini and then add the many great rings and bases and caps that are available. Really dress up the gear. Works of art and the Hippos, for example, also greatly improve functionality (air flow). Have to get one or two as I do have air flow problems with my current beauty rings using my Phiniacs. Great thread and many great posts. Thanks again. My two cents.
