i got suckered into the fancy new features of the maxx (led ring, metal button, etc..) and then read the initial troubling reviews and quickly ordered a riva before my maxx(t-rex) ever arrived from china. ended up getting the riva first. cosmetically i prefer the maxx, i like the silver accents, i usually loathe gold (gold cars, gold jewelry, gold anything) but oh well its not a deal breaker in a PV. well im glad i ordered the riva because not only did the battery come apart a couple of days ago but the damn threads came off the cone. i wouldnt recommend the maxx(trex) to anyone but ive already turned friends on to vaping and they've all ordered rivas. love everything about the riva but the gold accents and i can live with that. didnt even consider the ego b/c of the price, $75 for 650 with a troublesome button when i could get 750 for $20 less

Eastmall has the Riva for just under $40, if a co-op forms that would take down the shipping.

I'm pretty sure I saw the Riva on sale for as low as $45 recently, and regularly for $50. I'm not sure it's worth ordering direct from China for only a $5-10 difference, especially if you take into account support if something were to go wrong. I wouldn't be surprised to see both the eGo and Riva fall to around $45 stateside on a regular basis the way things seem to be heading.

I hadn't thought about it before, but I wonder how they handle DOA and warranty issues with those large co-op purchases from China?

I have to chime in here as another totally satisfied new user of the Riva. I have only been using it for a week, but it has totally become my "sweet spot" for vaping. I have been using DSE 901's for over 16 months, and then have used the Little Chuck for the past several months (for my home use "big boy" vaping).

The Riva is the best of both of those worlds. Light, sleek, classy, great battery, GREAT vapor, with both the regular and LR 510 atty's. Just ordered another kit (Vapor Junction, $49) and extra atty's, and will give cartos a try, though I really prefer the 901 whilstle-tip with my PTB filler. Will also try it with the good, original version 901 atty's, with an adaptor, and see how that goes. But those 510's on the Riva battery are outstanding!

Gotta say, in my case, it is producing better vapor and flavor (with my DYI juice, which is pretty thick and dark (partial VG, chocolate/coffee/almond/cinammon mix)) then either a brand new 901 setup or the Little Chuck with it's bigger batteries.

Man, this is one fine unit!

Just my two cents...

Aloha,

I've been using the new e2 cartomizers from Vapor Junction on my Riva, and it's very good. Incredible vapor production along with good flavor. I'd still recommend waiting a week or two for the newest revision to come out though. VJ is supposed to get them shortly.
Those E2 cartos are going to be my next purchase. In the meantime i have the LR Attys. :)
