Hi Veterans,
Does PG or VG e-liquids have any alcohol or animal extracts?
And what are the components of PG and VG
e-liquid?
I'm looking forward to read your posts
Some commercial juices have a bit of ethanol in them. One can always contact the vendor to find out. Some vendors put all the ingredients on their juice bottles, some do not. PG is never animal based.
Some glycerins are, since they are made from beef or pork fat hydrolysis. Vegetable glycerin (VG) is made from plants only, so has no animal products, even trace.
These are concerns I also had when I started vaping. Being a chemist, however, I quickly starting making my own VG juices (can't do much PG) from high-nic VG unflavored juice, VG, distilled water to thin (I cannot do ethanol), and flavorings, such as Lorann, Capellas or Perfumer's Apprentice. That way I knew exactly what was in my juices, and it is much cheaper, more convenient (run out, make more, rather than wait for an order I can't afford in the first place), and I am continually in flavor heaven.
If you buy VG, get only USP grade (FDA approved food grade). Drug store glycerin may be animal or plant, depending on their source. I use Heritage brand VG, 100% vegetable, and tastes much better than the CVS glycerin I have.
Good luck!
