I'm a recovering alcoholic who just started
vaping and I'm really enjoying it. I've done some research and found that both PG and VG are alcohols. I'm pretty sure its not the same as booze (ethyl alcohol) and it won't get you drunk but I've always been super careful about what I put into my body as my sobriety is life and death to me. Not to be paranoid but whenever I see the word "alcohol" its a red flag for me. Anybody know any facts about this. I can't find anything anywhere on the subject.
PG and VG are not the types of alcohols with which you would be concerned, but almost all ejuices have ethanol (the alcohol in beers and liquors) as a component. This listing from a major

The percentage amounts will differ of course.
There have been many threads discussing this and the consensus is that the inclusion of ethanol does not have the effect that drinking alcohol would have, but with the considerations you have, you shouldn't go by consensus.
If I thought that it was a 'life or death' situation for me, I would consult a professional and have them explain the effect it could have on me and not take anyone's word on it on an internet forum. You could vape some ejuice that you knew had ethanol in it and then have a blood test to see if blood alcohol levels changed. That is the only way you are going to know for certain, and I assume since the way that you framed the question in life or death terms, that you would want that degree of certainty.
