So looking for a new tank for the wife, I have her sold on the Ares tank for RBA but she would prefer drop in replacement coil heads. The problem is that she needs the coils to be SS for TC, AND the fill port must be top fill but NOT require the top to be completely removed. It also needs to have adjustable air flow but I think they all do these days. So essentially she wants the Zenith tank but with SS coils. I don't think anything exists right now, at least until Innokin releases a SS coil for the Zenith (I have heard there are plans to at some point), but please correct me if I am wrong.

If she is MTL, maybe a coil that takes the Joytech CLR coils? I don't think they make a SS version, but the coil is easily replaced. I don't know if it will provide a fantastic SS experience, I haven't tried it yet, there are "yeses" and "nos" on how well it does TC, although it sounds weird to buy stock coils and immediately rebuild them, the coils last forever, and can be rewicked too, although that sounds almost as much of a pain as just building an RTA. Also, the topfill,... Well, you'd have to hunt for a tank. I had a wismec tank that was topfill and took those coils, but it died.

Hmm... It's really tough to come up with top fill, MTL drop in coils, I must say. The zenith would be perfect except for the lack of TC coils.

We are being punished by MTL tank makers! I do kind of feel that way, although my experiments with TC do tell me that my style of vape and lack of chain vaping (well, I spread it across setups) that I don't think my non-TC vapes are reaching absurd and dangerous temps, although I can see why such a feature would be an advantage, as far as vaping.

I think the Vapresso EUC coils come in a 0.5, TC setup (titanium) that might be worth checking into....

Yeah if she is going to be rebuilding coils, then better to just go with the Ares and be done with it. I agree the Zenith if they made SS coils would be perfect, I am frankly shocked that Phil failed to have an SS option made. For her the TC is less about concern for the temps reached as it is having a smooth consistent vape across the drag.

Thinking outside the box, Letitia! It's actually a fantastic idea, and the Zenith would go well on top.

I will say, I love my ares, and I run it in temp mode. I don't notice a huge difference in vape quality, but I don't chain vape it and my temps stay pretty low. But it's a very low maintenance tank, I am still on my first coil and wick, and I've used it a fair amount. With the easy topfill and great flavor, that is also a good choice. I use rayon and vape puny wattages but I think she would probably enjoy the ares a great deal. Just... Teach her to rewick and send her on her way with a bit of wicking, if it's necessary....

Or, the Hohm Slice...

Sadly we just bought her the Aspire Skystar mod a few days ago, so a new mod is out of the question. I got to thinking though, do any of the SMOK tanks have a SS coil option? Those have a good top fill design. Let me go see what I can find.

My suggestion has 3 of the four requirements.

The original Uwell Crown has either 0.12 ohm Ni or 0.25, 0.5, 1.2 0hm SS coils for TC or wattage mode. It is a top fill tank, but the top must be removed first. It has a very versatile adjustable air flow ring.

No. The HW1 is a ss coil and I think is compatible with BBB & BB. Good coil, decent life and flavor.

So I looked up that coil and....GAH why did I not know about the Eleaf Ello 25 tank? That has the right top fill, and maybe with closing down the airflow and using a 510 drip tip adapter and smaller tip this might work. I'll show her this afternoon and see what she says. Thanks for pointing me in this direction.

Thanks for the suggestions, but she would rather rebuild than have a removable top to fill. She sometimes has to refill while driving, so if something has to be removed, it is a "no go". She doesn't want to accidentally drop the top while driving and end up with liquid seeping out while waiting to pull over to find the top. This is also why bottom fill is also 100% out of the question.

So I am thinking the above mentioned HW1 coil and either the ELLO tank or one of the compatible SMOK tanks might work. Otherwise she is getting the Ares and can learn to build it.

Filling while driving? Um.... There is this thing called "pulling into a safe space to stop." Honestly I can't imagine filling while driving, ever, period, regardless.

I should note, about the ares, that my topfill cap doesn't always stay completely in place. It will slide slightly, and it's also not the "easiest" slide topfill, to be honest. You have to look down and see that you are pushing in the right area, and it's a very TINY marking. IDK if anyone else has that issue with the ares, but my top cap will slide (a very short distance) and I do have to periodically check it. It's never leaked or anything, so it doesn't slide all the way, but I do have to "click" it back in place on occasion, and I don't think it would be a fantastic "topfill" to use while driving, in fact I rather think it would be pretty dangerous. Maybe she's more dexterous than me, but if she has to learn to build on top of it, well, I'd say it's not the greatest choice, for her "needs" which are honestly pretty ridiculous, she should be checking if her vapes need filling BEFORE she turns on the ignition, if you ask me. That's an accident waiting to happen. I would not suggest the Ares either, it requires concentration to fill, and it's not optimal for this use (although in my opinion NOTHING is, and it's a perfectly easy problem to SOLVE ANOTHER WAY.

Just... I hate the idea of car accidents due to filling vape on the highway. That won't go over well and frankly your wife could be badly hurt and/or kill someone else.

Just my opinion, as always. The ares is a 4 ml tank, though. She should FILL it before she gets on the road, not during it. Oh my.

@stols001 all of that is true, but is it really any worse that digging in a purse for smokes and a lighter while driving? Then drop the lighter and go fishing under the seat for it? Like I mentioned before she is currently using my old TFV4 (RBA head) and fills it easily while driving with the convenient rotate to fill top. At least she isn't dripping and driving.

LOL, I did not "root" through my purse for cigarettes and lighters, no, I had them nice and easy to access in the car. I have dropped the occasional lit cigarette, but I also didn't freak out about it, since car surfaces are made to be fire proof. I would calmly proceed to the nearest exit, not root for it. In most places, that would be less than 2 minutes, I highly doubt that my cigarette would combust anything at all.

I still don't think the ares is the best choice for topfill while driving and vaping is supposed to be HARM reduction, not equal to cigarettes, and I would say that applies to driving as well.

With that said, I don't do well driving with multiple interruptions, so maybe your wife can manage it. With that also said, I really see NO REASON not to take the time to inspect and fill ones vape PRIOR to starting the ignition. That's what I do with ALL the vapes I bring with me while driving, and I don't "root" around for anything, I have a cupholder for them.

Yes, killing 30 people is worse than killing one, but I still think it's a bad vaping practice. Personally. I know there are the generation that DID drip while driving and etc., but I am not from that era, and I believe different things. Vaping is so easy these days (and hands free) there's no reason to fill on the fly, it is COMPLETELY and TOTALLY avoidable. I think it's a bit of a ridiculous requirement, personally, but if that is what your wife MUST do, I don't think the ares is the best choice, but obviously, do what you will/ must etc.
