Also, brass sounds really cool anyways, before the fire I had been contemplating ordering the brass tube CoV sells for it anyways because I didn't want to scratch up the To My Friend tube. I still can't believe it, you are truly an inspiration. Not to turn this thread into a rant, but tell me this owners of the Terminator or the GG clones. Do you think the Chinese companies that put out these knockoffs would make an offer like Imeo just did? HECK NO!! buy GG ladies and gents... That is all.
Sorry for the chain posting here, but I would just like to give a very heart felt shout out to Bishopeals here. Not only is he an extremely helpful member, but offering up one of his atties is just an awesome thing to do. Not only that, but a month or two back I made a post describing the troubles I was having with my Penelope. I was having trouble getting it to fire, and it turned out my negative leg wasn't lying on the metal properly to make a ground. After seeing my post he went on, right then and there to make a 20 minute long video showing a very detailed step by step setup and troubleshooting video. After seeing his video that night when I got off work, I redid my Penelope with his help and it worked FLAWLESSLY since then. I would just like to give him, Imeo and everybody else of this community

I would also like to give the same heart felt thanks to anavidfan, who immediately after reading my post last night, decided to send me a KGo batt, some juice samples, even even several different types of wick and the wire to help me get my Penelope up and running again. I truly don't even know what to say to you guys. I have been posting on message boards since 12/24/2001, and I have NEVER seen a more positive and responsive community than I have here at ECF. I am really in shock here about all of this and in a few months once I get back on my feet and well settled into a rental house (in a hotel right now but it's a suite and actually really nice) and am able I plan to return the favor any way I possibly can.

Thats why we are trying to keep those times light Malig. Thats why we collect money for Africa kids, thats why torq collects money from his wooden GGTB to send them to apalachia kids etc.

Yeah even though it's an absolutely terrible experience, nobody got seriously hurt. I got burns all up my left arm to my elbow, on my right hand, on both of my knees, the side of my neck and my feet from trying to smother the fire before it got big, but none of them are serious. Some of them are 2nd degree and i'm on an antibiotic treatment to prevent infection but it's actually not nearly as bad as it sounds, they're mostly small, dime to quarter sized dotted all over except one of my knees which is about 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" ish long. Nobody else got hurt at all.
The most terrible part was how quickly it spread, and the smoke. I wasn't near it for that long but I took a couple breaths of the most horrible, choke inducing smoke you can imagine and coughed up black phlegm for about 2 days afterward but I feel fine now. I'm just glad I didn't get trapped in my room. Somebody upstairs was looking out for me that night.

Ok, I will replace your GGTB for free buddy. At least I can give you a small help with this issue. I will search my store to see what I can find. I know that I have one brass tube, one button and caps. I will search for a SS tube but I doupt that I can find any

Actually Imeo, I know the tubes I have are thinner. I was going to give phreaky my original brass GGTB which has the full diameter tube. You are right about what goes around, comes around and I'm just trying to help out.

Denatured alcohol will remove any burn smoke residue. You can find them in Home depot and lowes. Real cheap and easy to use and makes it smell good.

Wow awesome! That looks perfect, thank you for the tip. I would feel more comfortable using that than any kind of gasoline to be honest. I soaked it twice more today and I think it's probably ok to use but i'm just still really nervous about it. That would make me feel a lot more comfortable. I think the metal parts are fine after soaking it so many times, it's the ceramic that i'm more worried about than anything. Thank's again Bishop.
I use that to clean out bongs. In bongs you have the harshest blackest tar residue from burning up the bowl. This leaves it clear and clean. all i use is a rag running in hot water I soak rag all over it and it will clean it up. leave it soaking but you need a bottle brush thingy to scrub the inside and outside of the device. then run it in hot hot hot water to clean off the denatured alcohol.
Cool, very good to know. Luckily the stuff looks cheap too. I just want to take the utmost care before using the Penelope again because they told us not to eat anything that was in the house, even stuff sealed like unopened bags of potato chips, etc. We even had to throw away our Keurig (Noooooo!!!! ) and that stuff was downstairs so I just want to be very, very careful. It might be a good idea to torch the ceramic too I guess? Hopefully the rental house has a gas stove and I can just dangle it on there for a little bit like you had to with the original Oddy ceramics to get rid of the "soapy taste". (I didn't have to do this with my drip mode Oddy but I got that off the classifieds so it may have been done before I owned it for all I know)
Edit: Speaking of rental houses. Good news on that front, we've found several possibilities in good locations so hopefully in the next week or two we can move in to one. We're trying to find one close to our house since we'll be going there A LOT over the next 8-10 months as they rebuild.

I remember after paying for it I held it in my hands for a minute and admired it.
