It has been my experience -- vaping both at home and in my office at work -- that nobody has ever been able to detect the smell of any vapor -- but only if I've exhaled. If I take a big ol' puff and blow it out without inhaling it'll definitely give the whole place the smell of whatever I'm vaping. I did this delberately when a co-worker asked what I was vaping at the moment, so I blew out a puff of Juicy Vapor's Cinnamon Danish Swirl and the entire office smelled like a bakery for the next half hour. :D

Thanks for all the replies. :) From the looks of things, I guess it mostly depends on the flavor.

If my wife smells one she doesn't care for, I'm pretty sure she'll let me know. :D Gonna be working to get her on it too, but she currently equates e-cigs with all the funky flavored cigarettes that hit the market 4 or 5 years ago which she didn't like at all. I'm thinking that once she tries the e-cig that isn't also tied to the burning tobacco taste of those flavored cigarettes she'll come around. Just need to have a big variety of juice on hand for her to sample til she finds some she likes too. :)

Not far from me, Vaporesence has a retail brick-n-mortar store. Obviously, people vape there all day, and they have a whole bunch of fluid bottles sitting around.

When I walk in there, I smell a very strong sweet odor, much like walking into an ice cream shop.

That, of course, is an extreme situation. Few places are going to have as many people vaping as that. Plus they have hundreds of juice bottles sitting around and people dripping with them to try flavors.

Ive had my first PV for about 5 days now and ive been vaping like crazy in my room. My dad walked in my room the other day and saw me vaping hes like "Hey, dont use that thing in here i dont want your room to stink!" I was like "Dad ive been vaping heavily in here since I got it, it doesnt really leave any smell." Hes like "oohh thats neat!"

At least in my experiences with the juices i have been vaping it hasnt really left any lingering odor what so ever. Im sure it depends on the variety of juices though.

It does depend on the juice; it's nothing like a lingering smoke smell, it's kinda like spraying little puffs of air freshener into the room. It should dissipate quickly if you've got moving air (like an office). I have noticed that one of my straight tobacco flavors leaves my car smelling musty for a couple of hours after I get out. I usually stick with some minty menthol flavor in "sensitive" areas, no one ever seems to complain about a fresh minty smell...

When I vape in the back room at work people will walk back and know exactly what I'm doing because they can smell the fruity flavors (which is pretty much all I like) and this one girl will have me blow it at her and try to guess what it is. I can't smell it at home when my husband is vaping because I'm usually doing the same. Sometimes I'll come home after work and smell it though.

We have a well-ventilated and filtered living space, so I'd imagine that any potential film-producing agents wind-up in the filter of the air handler. I'm not seeing anything on windows, mirrors or monitors. The car is another matter, but it's hard to determine if the window film is from solvent outgassing or vaping. I can say that certain flavors linger more than others over the short-term; but I've never noticed any scent after a couple of days of non-use of the car.

The only lingering evidence of my vaping isn't really from vaping itself, it's from juice storage. My juice box has a sweet-woody-musky scent that perfumes the room every time I open it--quite pleasant.
