I saw one that had the volts, ohms, and watts all on one display all at the same time.
I wish I could remember the name of it, but I think it is very new.

The eVic will do this in VW mode. You dial the wattage, so it shows in the main part of the screen, and you can have the voltage and resistance (ohms) showing in the upper left part of the screen. (Voltage top line, Ohms second line, Battery charge meter beside it) Thats the mode mine stays in most of the time I am trying out new tanks/clearo's/atty's. (I use mvr vw mode in normal use, as I have my vape adusted there where I like it)

As far as I know there is not a PV out there that will read the ohms of the carto/atty you screw on and set itself to the proper voltage/wattage. Just doesn't exist, you have to set them yourself. It really isn't rocket science with a ProVari.

1. Set voltage to 3.3
2. Put on your carto or atty
3. Take a toot
4. Adjust voltage up till it tastes right to you
5. If it tastes harsh or burnt back down on the voltage

Simple...

I dont know. Looking around at stuff.

The Provaris are the *main* mod to get from all i have seen and read. But i do wish it had a "noob mode" on it, lol. I want something well made that will last, and once i learn it it wont be a problem. Just wish there was something simple to learn on.

I am not a math person, and all the numbers seem complicated to me. A friend suggested an evic, but the reviews arent that hot.

An easy rule of thumb:

Ohms + 2

Find the ohms of the delivery device, add 2,set the voltage there.

So 1.7ohm + 2 = 3.7

It's not perfect but it's easy & works.

I thought that's (sort of) what the VAMO/eVic does. You put on a carto or whatever, tell the VAMO/eVic you like 8 watts, it reads the resistance of the carto and sets the voltage to whatever will get you to 8 watts. Am I mistaken?

As of firmware version 1.2, you can set up an eVic to display Volts, Ohms, and Watts all on the screen simultaneously.

I watched two vids on the evic, from PhilB and Grimm, not impressed so far :/

I think it will end up being the Provari and the Vamo for back-ups.

Thanks for the info

The biggest issue/complaint i have seen with the eVic is the 5 volt and 11 watt limit. Knew about the limits before i purchased it, so it was not a deal breaker for me. I usually vape between 7 and 9 watts, so I am well within the limitations of the device. I like the firmware upgrade features, and the record keeping features of the device and the software myself. I will probably pickup a VAMO rev 2 for something to play with above 11 watts when I start playing around with RBA style tanks. I've only have my evic for a few days so far, but so far I really like it.

just a little FYI.... if you own a Prothingy, you won't need to worry about a backup. go over to the subforum for Prothingy's n try to find a post with a problem for them. they're pretty well bulletproof. :D

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java the thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

It makes me wonder if caffeine in an eliquid would be absorbed into one's system with the same results as when consumed in coffee. That would be good. Then drinking coffee wouldn't take time away from vaping.

Both caffeine and nicotine cross the blood brain barrier, who knows, lol?

The topic of caffeine in e-liquid has been discussed here on the forums before. A chemist posted once that caffeine is not able to be vaporized at the temperatures that our PV's use. So in effect, if you are purchasing e-liquids with caffeine in them, you are wasting your money.

Nicotine is a stimulant not too unlike caffeine. Up your nicotine strength in your e-liquid if you feel you need more umph in your vape.

To BassPlayersWife: Getting a Provari is an excellent choice if your criteria is for a device that is durable, consistant, and dependable. It is built for the long term vapor.

The build, quality of construction, and quality of the electrictical components of the PV's made in China have not come close to that of the Provari. Once their warranty has expired, you are left with nothing as China manufacturers do not repair anything, they expect you to buy another device.

With the Provari (from Provape), you get a one year warranty free, and have the option to buy an additional year for $25. Once the warranty is expired, Provape will continue to service your Provari for already printed fees for service. In my opinion, this alone is worth the extra price a Provari demands.

The interface used with the Provari to use the different modes is rather simple when put into practice. I learned it easily within just ten minutes of just playing around with it.

This is exactly why variable wattage exists -- to set your voltage based on the resistance of your current atty. Any variable wattage device can do this.

True, but you still need to tell the processor what wattage you wish to use. The processor doesn't read your mind or automatically know what your preferred wattage is. I believe the Evic is the only device that will have all the info on the screen simultaneously: watts, voltage, ohm resistance, and the most important - the puff counter.

You're still going to need backup. I broke my Provari :(. Had to send it in for repair. Thank god I did have backups. It was user error that made it break. :x. Totally my own fault.

No matter how good or what the device is.....ALWAYS have backups.

Go with Sigelei S-Max, I do not know if someone suggested it or not I only read the first 2 pages. I hear people suggesting the evic, for one I have read alot of negative reviews and two it looks hideous if you ask me. The S-max is under $100 and does all that the evic does except for the stupid screen showing everything at once. It is VV and VW and you can have it show either, resistance (ohms), battery voltage, or your Volts or Watts being used everytime you press the button. Do some reviews on it and I am sure you won't be disappointed. It is almost as heavy as my Provari is and is just as accurate comparing the two. Just my suggestion, it looks alot nicer than the E-vic and for $110 at my local shop I was able to get the mod, a battery, a charger, 15ml bottle of juice and 5 cartos in a pack for that price it can't be beat.

We just ordered. We got two Provaris with the ext warranties, and 2 vamos as back ups :)

(plus 2 carto/tank systems from Big Daddy's ;) )

Thanks for the input everyone :)

Now, we wait until they get here *sigh*

I think that an eVic would be a great choice, I also own 2 Provari's that I would not part with but for a reliable do everything mod the eVic has everything as far as VV/VW and the display screen is great for setting and checking cartos and clearos. I have been useing my eVic for just over a month and it is as reliable as any other mod with the most options of any device I have seen.
