I really have to agree with you Katt. Freedom is won, not given. And if most ignore the issue and don't even try to join the fight it's awfully hard to gain freedom. If all vapers spoke up it would be monstrously loud and impossible to ignore. But that doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately.
I'm not going to blame anyone for not fighting hard enough... or not fighting at all. It's an individual choice. But I won't have much sympathy when the freedom to vape is lost and the folks who never even joined the fight start whining.
I know the folks in this thread see the future and what is going to happen as a result of the complacent attitude most vapers seem to have. So I guess the question is, how do we reach the folks that have ignored the issue so far and don't feel a need to participate in the fight? We know that it will be exponentially harder to repeal regs than to block them in the first place. So frustrating.
I, like you (and most in this thread), am stubborn and will continue to fight. But I really despair of the opportunity lost to fight the deeming regs at it's easiest point with the full voice of vapers, which is before they are passed.
as an older person i have come to believe the closer one is to being 30 or younger,
the more likely they are to be more complacent about regulations.
i don't mean this as a bad thing. they simply have no idea what it was like before
before the war on cigarettes. cigarettes were the main target as over 40% of the adult
population smoked.80% had smoked or tried smoking.smoking was as normal in public,
in or outdoors as people now days wandering around the area staring at their hand held
devices.
for younger people they see no problem with vaping restrictions the same as smoking.
why would they? the smokers go outside why shouldn't we? whats the big problem.
most of what i hear concerning the younger attitude about vaping bans doesn't
even include health issues. a lot are more concerned we are violating the
rights of others by vaping in their presence. its actually being discourteous not
being disrespectful.
bans on advertising and flavors? labeling requirements?
nicotine strength, child proof caps and age restrictions?
well you know its going to happen get over it.
that's what government does as they always have.
never do they realize it wasn't always the way it is now.
i suspect when the draconian taxes come in place that
will at least double and probably triple our costs for
what is likely to be cigalikes with tamper proof prefilled
carto's they may take another look at their attitudes.
after the regulations, bans and other sundry restrictions
come into play 10,15,or,20 years down the road after having
had stood outside vaping in the rain, sleet, snow, zero degree
cold and, blistering heat(the closer to the curb, the better), they
might have a completely different opinion from what they have now.
just saying.
