My husband quit smoking 6 years ago. (so proud of him) But me I'm weak and when I found vaping he said ok blow it in my face and let me smell it. So I did he said ok in the house with you. Best part I've found so far with him is that we can now cuddle after *insert fun activity here* and we never did cuddle I was always up and out the door smoking afterwards. Now I can lay there and vape and kiss and cuddle. vaping has made my life so much better. I don't care if it's an addiction guess what at least it's not killing friends, family, environment and the ozone layer. Plus I get to say I'm a non-smoker, no need to add in oh but I vape cause it's no ones business except mine and whom I want to tell. Good luck with your partner hun, I know a couple more people who are in a similar situation only they don't have their own room to do it in. Smoking is an addiction and most, not all smokers have addictive personalities. Better to transfer that addiction and work it off in a safer slower way than commiting murder trying to quit.

I think you should let your representatives know how vaping has improved your time with your husband. In the past when I had a relationship, we would both hop out of the sack to go smoke, come in, get warm and crash. Then have a conversation about the time after, and how nice it would be to just spoon up after and relax. Smoking in the house was not an option.

But are you vapeing inside at the kitchen table now??

I have chosen to vape in my area of the house when she is around. If she comes into my area, then I vape also. I also vape at my studio, in my car, and when watching TV in the living room (if she not watching it, too). I would have really appreciated the support with this from her in the form you other vapers are getting AND I understand that in her world addictions are addictions...

Speaking of addictions, how many pairs of shoes does she have?

OMG, have you been looking in my closet? I'm the one with all the shoes as well...sigh...lol

If you drink coffee or have a bunch of soda or tea you are also giving into your addiction! Would your partner have had teh same reaction if you tried quitting smoking with gum or lozenges and got addicted to them instead?

I was down at my dad and step-mom's for Thanksgiving and was telling them about vaping and how I switched over, and it doesn't stink up a place with smoke. Asked my step mom if I could vape and she said yes. Even vaped in the car with my father. I would have never even though to ask to smoke in your car or condo.

Hopefully with time and understanding your partner will see the light. Vaping might still carry on the addiction but at least it is better than smoking.

I agree 101%. I am so glad to have found vaping and be off the "smoking" so gracefully, no blood-shed, and lost 45 pounds.

I love this forum. You all ROCK!

I've had issues with my wife but it's dependant on the juice I'm using. Some juices leave a more distinct aroma than others. If I'm vaping something that the vapor aroma disappears quickly or it has a menthol or vanilla smell ,vaping in the house hasn't been an issue. Sometimes I vape my Halo Prime 15 and the stuff has a musty/marlboro light smell that the wife hates. I've learned to limit my in house vaping to flavors that I like and that doesn't irritate my wife.

I was a smoker when husband married me. but then he complained. too bad, so sad, I always smoked in the house. and now I vape in the house. he still fans the air sometimes. too bad, so sad. it's my house too and he didn't HAVE to marry me :) so not everyone has support :) your partner has some kind of "addiction", we all do! I tell people I traded one habit for another, that usually keeps them from bothering me. plus I'm old and that helps too

This story continues as I have had a conversation about this issue with my partner.
I gathered more information about the details of vaping - reports from several sources including New Zealand report etc. and shared these.
I also said the following..."This is a big issue for me as I am moving from the icky, tar smoking, chemical sucking, air polluting analogs to vaping and eventually to probably no nicotine at all.

I would like your support in this difficult journey for me.
I do not want to sit in the living room and vape while we are watching movies, I do not want to vape while we are riding together in the car, I do not want to vape in your families homes, I generally do not want to vape while we are at restaurants unless it ends up being hours of conversation.
I do choose to vape in my own room.
I may choose to vape from time to time in the kitchen when you are doing something else and we are having a conversation."
The reply I got was as follows:
"You've told me that you're using electronic cigarettes to help you quit smoking. You're a very intelligent woman and yet you're so attached to this addiction that you're allowing yourself to believe that getting nicotine in more comfortable and convenient environments is somehow going to help you stop smoking. What is that about?

Smoking electronic cigarettes in the house or other environments in which you've normally refrained from smoking makes it a lot easier for you to put nicotine into your body. Even if the amounts are reduced each time you take it in, the ease of access is likely to result in more frequent intake rather than reduced intake. How does that support you in quitting smoking?

I fully support you in quitting smoking. I do not support you in expanding your opportunities to put nicotine into your body.

I fully understand how difficult it is to quit smoking. I smoked for 20 years before I quit and it wasn't easy to stop but it is do-able when you decide to do it." end of quote.

8-oAny suggestions as to where to go from here? I would really appreciate any insights.
I am definately committed within myself to continue this path to no analogs and I feel vaping is definately working for me. I am also not at the point yet where I am completely finished with analogs.

I may be a jerk but at that point I would have a cigar handy and say "Then I'll just smoke this." Then light it up.

Please be sure to make a video of this exchange and post it. :)

My car was on the blink for Thanksgiving so my dad gave me a ride to his place & back. If you say "cigarette smoke" around my father it's enough to get his allergies acting up. I crack the window when I vape in a car, did when I smoked too. My dad told me to roll the window up. The vaping wasn't bothering him but the cold coming in was a pain in the .... :)

For the most part I think a lot of it is a psychological effect of seeing someone vape and associate it with smoking. Anyone out there a shrink and want to do a study on it? :)
