Hey guys,

Ever since I installed my SO kit....I have noticed some liquid build up on my door, it'll be at the top left of my delrin cover on the magnets and on the bottom lip of my reo.

I took it apart and cleaned last night in the sink, re-attached my tube etc. I think it's coming from my bottle cap, maybe it's not sealed properly?

The second issue is dry/gross hits with a very wet/soaked wick. I have 10 wraps of 24g around 1/16 at 0.5 ohms. I will squonk, make sure its wet and take a vape and it'll be dry/harsh/burnt tasting.

I am using the Koh Gen Do wick and I did not get any cotton taste on my first vape, and this seems to happen sporadically. I'll take a drag, get the gross one and the next pull before squonking is fine.

I believe the dry hit stuff to be related my coil maybe...perhaps 24G and a SO kit is just too hot for cotton?

I have had the exact same thing since installing the kit. I will have a bit of juice on the delrin insert at top left and top right as well as the bottom lip of the mod. I figure the hose nipple isn't seated all the way or I am pushing the juice bottle too hard when squonking. I've meant to get in there and see, but since it has been so minimal, I havent felt the urge to dive in yet.

No juice inside the block really, just on the outside.

My brass nipple has been tightend as much as I am comfortable doing....I think if this was the case, id have liquid behind the bottle and or on my batteries positive connection, that I have seen before.

I can't imagine that my cotton is too dense, but hey thats really the only thing making sense if I get a dryish hit with both ends of my wick soaked.

One of mine, the mini 2.1, does the same thing. I think it may have to do with the old (not to be removed) piece of silicon at the bottom of the 510. I had real trouble getting the 510 pin to stay in when I was rebuilding, so I think there's likely a relationship here! (I did two other rebuilds without that problem).

That was happening after I put the kit on my OG mini. It started as small leaks but one day I came back to a puddle. The battery was wet too. Took it all apart, cleaned it well, made sure the nipple was tightened, and did the drop of crazy glue to attach the tube- which I didn't do the first time. Worked like a charm. It just seemed so permanent, that one drop of glue.

My airhole is now on the same side of my door....when I was cleaning it out, I lost my o-ring down the sink drain so I am using a different one and now my airhole is lined up differently.

I just re-wicked quickly, got some cotton taste but hopefully my coil wont choke the wick this time...

No leaking since I wiped it off in the car this morning.....gotta keep an eye on it!

24ga, huh? Very thick wire for coil. Lots of heat there and once it gets hot it'll stay hot longer and take more time for it to cool down as opposed to a thinner wire such as 28 or 30 ga. That cotton is probably still cooking even after you stop firing.

It does and you are exactly right.

I've had to train myself to keep drawing after I release the button, if not....I get a solid 2-3 seconds of sizzle when done and I'd imagine maybe thats where the dry hits are coming from...

It's too hard for me to go back to 28G now I think.....if I did 10 wraps 28g, thats 1ish ohm and then I have to do a dual coil to get back down to 0.5 and stacking coils is a PITA in the RM2.

24G 10 wrap is perfect for my 0.5ohm build unfortunately, the size of the coils is perfect, it requires zero positioning and just slides in perfectly.

I was having the same burnt taste issue on my grand when I installed the new contacts. I just so happened to make the switch to koh gen do at the same time. I suspected a hot leg or hotspot and tried 3 different coil builds with no luck getting rid of the burnt taste. I then thought maybe it was the koh gen do cotton, so I wrapped a new 28g 8 wrap 1/16" micro and tried the regular cotton ball wick. No burnt taste at all. This just didn't make any sense, so I re-wicked the same coil with koh gen do and it is absolutely fine. All I can figure is the new contacts throw so much more power to the coil that any hot spot or coil blemish will make it through to the vape. I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe try another coil and make sure is heats up cleanly from middle out.

I also disliked staking, so I wrapped two 28ga ten wraps in parallel. Ez job on the coil winder thingy. Came in at .45 ohm, nice and warm, but cools down quicker than the 24 did. It is pretty long, I have been tempted to put in a second air hole like filthy beast.

I'd want a 2nd air hole if I did it that way I think. :)

I decided to tear out my coil and rebuild, my air hole is 3/32, so I made a 24g coil around that size 6 wraps and I got the same 0.5 ohms that I did was 10 wrap 1/16 24g.....going to wick it now and see what happens.

I think the larger diameter will allow me to keep the cotton in the center moist.

aaaand its wicked and problem 100% solved, one more day and ill call it good on the leaks. :)

The flavor is great and weird hits now that my diameter is larger :}

The most important thing? No sizzle after I release the button, I stop and the coil stops, the larger surface area was creating too much heat or cooled down too slowly I think
