Thanks everyone..new coil and wick are setup, came out to 1.05 ohms.

It seems to be vaping OK so far...flavor still sucks, its so muted and tastes nothing like my HH357, its so muted.

My wick is already getting a little brown and I squonked before every vape and watched it pool up...

I'm going to suggest something "out of the box" when you try again tomorrow. Instead of building a micro (coils touching each other) try to start with about 4 to 6 wraps spaced apart evenly (measuring whatever ohms you prefer) and get a feel for that.

Also, I've found that in general; using cotton as a wick means go for lower ohms because cotton absorbs heat.

So roughly try an evenly spaced (instead of touching each other) build with that 28g wire you have to get a reading about where you had it (1.05ohm) and start that way and then after that go for the micro/coils touching each other thing.

I'm not knocking your skills, but I want you to enjoy the RM2 and I know I have yet to perfect a micro build so I've stayed at 4 "spaced apart" wraps of 30g kanthal to try and get somewhere near 1.0ohms. I use a toothpick to do my wraps.

Thanks,

Norman

Im thinking if you are using the stock holes it may be restricting airflow too much. I got my RM2 used and the holes are VERY large (1/16 I would guess...) and the flavor and vapor is 1000% better then my IGO-W with tiny holes.

And as others have suggested dont draw hard....draw nice and smooth. This lets the vapor build up and not cool your coil too quickly.

as others here have said, your coil needs to come way outboard, close as practical to the airhole inlet when the cap is on... here is a place where just 1mm's distance one way or the other can either make it or break it..., you want the incoming jet stream to hit the coil directly, really close to where it enters the chamber, where it's still a high velocity stream, a few mm's too far inboard and instead of a jet stream it becomes a wide breeze, instant flavor drop off and harshness added, the sweet spot is very close to the inlet

As long as we're just talking amongst ourselves, theorizin' . .. . . Sometimes, when a persons juice feed tube isn't superglued to it's little nippoh, or if the o-ring in the bottle is all aflumperdy, not enough juice will get up into the atty. Sure, one can watch it once or twice (I know, cause I've done this) and see that it's fine; but then one resorts to standard mindless squonking . .. . . which isn't enough for when you've got "air gap". Anyway, even tho you checked your squonk, your symptoms could describe this scenario too. You know when you've got it, cause if you listen real close, when you release a squonk, you can hear a little airflow . . .. a little air-suckage sound.

If I could give that one 2 likes - for that is one of the big keys. The other is air flow.

I think I finally got it right!

I used 10 wraps of 28 gauge kanthal, I torched the wire before wrapping to make it easier to wrap. Came out to about 1.27 ohms...

I positioned the coil almost directly over the juice hole and further out as suggested, its a about the same height as my air hole. The air hole is almost lined up, I can't get it centered with or without the o ring, but oh well.

The draw is similar to my HH 357 which is good, it still tastes a bit like cotton, but I know thatll go away. The flavor is already better and the throat hit/vapor production is great.....ill keep vaping and report back with pics if going well still!

Thanks everyone!

Yup...perfection!

I could use a bit more throat hit, but ill play with the height before making a lower ohm coil. :D

Glad you like it. To increase throat hit without losing too much flavor, you can take the very same coil, and raise it a little. And when I say "little", I mean "little" :)

SWEET!!!! Glad to see you are feelin the RM2 love! Im tellin ya....once you get it working, all your other attys will gather dust!

I have suprised myself witn my most recent build...going on two weeks with the same cotton wick, and 3 weeks on the same coil. I vape a very clean clear juice (frosted apple...by niquid) so that helps. I must have run 20ml thru this wick. I could never get a carto or clearo to last this long.

Often just poking it with a pair of tweezers or something whilst firing it to keep it hot and malleable (and to see whether it's working) does the trick. A hot-spot is frequently caused by a section of coil sticking out slightly, so getting it back down can fix it.

You'd want to use a short-protected mod, or a fuse, ideally.
