At dinners on Saturday nights I offer her a small glass of wine. Yes, I know I am a terrible parent. She always says no way daddy, ewwww.
For what it's worth, I don't think that is bad parenting at all. I think a child that drinks their first alcoholic drink with their parents in a controlled environment are much safer than those that have their first drink on the street with their friends.
In Europe it is not unknown (I don't want to say normal) to see children as young as 12/13 drinking small glasses of wine during meals in public restaurants. It is lawful (at least in the UK and France that I know of)
I've always said that if alcohol was 'discovered' today there is no way it would ever be legalized, but I think if we can introduce our children to it in a responsible manner, they are much less likely to abuse it.
I have no scientific proof of this argument by the way and I am too lazy...I mean busy to find any right now.
