A psychologist resorting to swearing and name-calling. That kind of strong, juvenile, emotional response is usually ellicited by the truth or guilt, wouldn't you say?

By the way, you don't sound like a very good psychologist. I would never come to you in private practice...really. Oh, maybe that's why you're not in private practice. What does your shrink say?

Me ladyraj a school psychologist, not sherid.

Got it!!!:D

Last thing and i have to go....there were never studies done of 2nd hand smoke then and if you go back 30-40 years you will see these same ailments and most of the parents were smokers. figure that one out.....
Actually there has been an increase in illnesses such as childhood asthma since the mid '70s. But if you were correct in saying it's the same, how do you explain that there's been no reduction since smoking has been banned in so many places and less adults smoke, thus reducing exposure?!?

I believe the poster was sherid...Got it? Get it!

So what does that have to do with the ability of a psychologist (I prefer psychotherapist) in their workplace. You professed the profanity I did not use but my friend did made me somehow unworthy or unreliable in my workplace and the realm of my expertise. Even now you are not admitting that you attributed something to me that I did not do. Until now...

I agree with Sherid, some of these machinations are a load of horse dooky. I can't call anyone on it because evidently I am a fraud and uneducated and open to scorn and personal insult.

Each response I posted recommended more research on Dr Siegel's blog as Sherid and myself have been avid members. Please read the Doc's findings.

Jeesh this is a waist of time....some people no matter how much facts and test are put in front of them they just dont understand that some things kill regardless if you like it or not.

Like e-cigarettes according to the FDA and anti-smokers such as those at ASH, ALA, CTFK, etc.8-o

People--come on here---Lacey started this thread about the Doc here--so lets talk about the Doc and the heat he is taking.
Sun

Sun, it is interesting to see this type of discussion. I can imagine that this is not that different from what people that are responsible for creating public policy experience too. How does one resolve it?

On the one hand, I am thinking that the "save the children" mantra is responsible for many fast decisions. On the other hand, I think it is reasonable to assume that second-hand smoke probably has some type of effect on a young child, probably bigger effect than on an adult.

But we don't need to stop there. What about parents that let their children play in the sun? We know that sun exposure can cause cancer. Are parents of sun-tanned kids guilty of abuse?

What about parents that have fat kids? We know that obesity causes lots of problems. Are parents of obese kids guilty of abuse because they don't cook healthy foods?

I could argue it both ways.

Lack of impulse control suggests instability. That is how it affects the workplace.

You and sherid started the insults by calling people trolls. Remember? So, tit for tat.

This is getting boring so please don't post to me anymore. I won't respond. I intended to read the study in the first place.

Bye-bye :D

Your experiences mirror mine. The denormalization campaign has created some great little soldiers even on this board.

You have warned me before about this site and the anti-smoking slant but I seem to get sucked in all the same. The Doc's blog is a better venue as you have suggested. I receive no personal attacks there and Im free to express alternative ideas. Such a shame...so much potential. :(

Pardon me but please review....I called nobody anything. Honorably I let you exit with no apology expected with the acknowledgement that one can not see the forest thru the trees. :D

Please note that you are using the sherid and ladyraj correlation/association just as the FDA has done with our e-cigs.

I will say the Doc has many good points about a lot of things I wont dispute that. But people need to draw a line from what is right from what is wrong. I believe this country needs to go with cleaner means of transportation. We need cleaner air, water, and food. And a cleaner source for electricity. We need a change in the way we practice medicine, how drugs are given out like tic tacs,..... the list goes on forever. I think exposing anyone to anything that can cause cancer or any other ailments is simply wrong.

It is absolutely proven that people driving kill children in car accidents. Perhaps having a child in a car or near a road is child abuse. Or allowing them to ride bikes, skate, or skateboard. I put my child on a schoolbus that has no seat belts, is that child abuse? I send her to a school where she has picked up more illnesses in one year than she has had in her previous 5 yrs of life. We feed children all kinds of things that are sugar free to keep them from getting fat and instead expose them to artificial sweeteners that have been proven to cause cancer. Saccharine is still on the table of every restaurant you go to. People live in cities where the air is so bad that they warn you on the news on some days not to go outside. At what point do we draw the line of other people telling us how to live and how to raise our children. You opinion that you have arrived at by cherry picking your "facts" is just that, you opinion. My parents opinion is that I am abusing my children by not taking them to church and therefore dooming their eternal soul to hell. They think their "evidence" supports their theory too.

Believe I know where are going with this . Getting into a car is something totally voluntary. Using sweeteners again is voluntary. Again living in the City is voluntary. Im talking about the acts of adults that force a child to breath in 2nd hand smoke. If a child lives in that house or rides in that car and the parents smokes in them, that is forcing a child to breath the crap you smoke involuntarily.

ask any child who's parents smoke if they like the smell of cigarettes.....just ask and they will tell you no because everything they have rinks of it. there clothes, toys, and there hair rinks of tobacco smoke. they have to go to school smelling like an ash tray. Is that fare for that child i dont think so.

You, ma'am, are a bad parent. We must report you to the child protective cops at once! :pervy:
