Just curious if anyone has figured out what exactly causes the draw on an atty to become harder and harder as time progresses.

Im working on atty 3 and compared to day 1, its like going from sucking on an empty straw to sucking a golf ball through a garden hose.

Ok, its not that bad but im just curious.

Is juice building up inside the lower part of the atty where the vent holes are?

Have you been blowing out and cleaning your attys? That rectified my issues when I was having problems. I blow my attys out every night and let them stand on a paper towel to soak up what drains to the bottom. After a week - 2 weeks when they get a "hard draw" I clean them in alcohol (you can find cleaning instruction in this subforum). Over all I spend about 30 minutes a week tending to my attys and they perform great.

Edit/addendum: "Blowing out" and atty is when you flip the atty around with the connection end in your mouth and blow through the vent holes. This makes the residual e-juice come out of the end. I suggest holding a paper towel underneath to catch the liquid. Also "patting" the paper towel to the end as you blow will save you some time and net a better result.

What I do on a regular basis is at the end of every night, I blow out the atty and do a single dry burn until the coil glows red.

After that, I get good vapor and throat hit, but come the next day, usually in the morning, its back to a tough draw. But after my cleaning at night, I put on a cart to keep the atty moist.

I'll try blowing out and leaving it to drain tonight, see how it works tomorrow.

Thanks for the advise.

I have been blowing out the atty at the end of the day, then re-priming the bridge with 3-4 drops of liquid, putting the mouthpiece (minus the cart) back onto the atty and letting it sit overnight. In the morning I will give it 2 drops (or a fresh cart, if I'm not dripping) then begin my day.

I've stopped all forms of cleaning my atty's. There are just too many problems associated with cleaning them so much. You may notice a trend on the forums. The folks who are doing little maintenance to their atty's are seeing less problems.

It seems the best maintenance for an atty is to keep that thing moist (always). A dry atty is the beginning of problems.

I hope this helps.

K, here's another question then.

When you're done vaping for the night and heading to bed. What do you do with your stuff?

Do you clean out atty and leave to dry?
Set entire ecig down?
Leave cart on atty and remove from battery?
Unsure if im doing something wrong.

I find my atty gets a bit stiff to draw on every couple of months. I just soak it in grain alcohol for 24 hours, blow it out with canned air, and it's good to go.

When I done vaping for the night, I do nothing. I just throw my e-cig's and passthrough in a drawer so the cat can get at it. In the morning, I top off the cart and go about my vaping.

what is a dry burn?

It seems a thinner liquid will always cause my attys to draw hard. At least I think it is a thin liquid. The fluid seems to flow through the filler right to the atty. I switched back to an old familiar e liquid that burns right . I have been using it for the last three weeks. Just today I pulled out the old liquid I was having problems with before and same thing happened. I get no draw and a full atty. It doesn't even mix well.

Now my batteries are not holding a charge long ( I think )which is adding to the frustration.

These are only my personal thoughts, and may not be accurate.

Maybe the thickness of the juice isn't the cause. It may be the ingredients in the juice itself.

A dry burn is to activate the atty and let it heat up, burning off the waste. I tried it one time, months ago, and the atty coil burned out. I haven't tried it since. It could have been just ready to go out, but I won't try it again.

True

I have decided my batteries are not holding a charge. I have stopped denying this.Low battery plus flooded atty makes a very hard draw.
On top of all that and me preforming strange mechanisms to resurrect my pv parts from the dead I love my vaping experience so far and am willing to throw money at the problem to make it right again. :)

This is just MY solution. NOT advising but...
Have some "Cal-Spray Evap Foam" from my resteraunt. Have been cleaning Atty's with it, (BTW works like a champ), Got 2 usb passthru's and seemed like vaping was getting REEEL nasty. On a whim sprayed calspray in a bowl, UNHOOKED passthru's and dipped in juice.. swished around and then dried them very well. Would not BELIEVE crud on towel. Left them alone for an hour or so and VOILA Brand spankin new pasthru's.. Worked like the day I got them. (Coarse I'v developed a dry hacking cough and I THINK I'm growing a new appendage !! :>)

I have an atty where the draw is just completely blocked up. The coil is good; I tried an everclear soak, but nothing. There is, however, a large bit of the wick hanging out from under the mesh bridge. Could it be that the wick was pulled out of the coil, so there isn't any liquid being transferred onto the coil? I'm totally stumped, and that's about all I have left to suspect. The draw is unchanged whether dripping or using carts...
