Very hand for filling cartos also.

I have a similar one; absolutely necessary for tired, old eyes.

Steam cleaner people .... never have a clogged atty ... nuf said.

I got the Bissell Steam Shot and while it cleans the attys well, it doesn't clean out the holes so they are as stuffy as when I started. I haven't tried drilling them out yet but that sounds like the way to extend the life of them. I'm using Cisco 1.5 LR 510s.

I found a way to make my atty last a little longer. instead of making hole a bigger circle, I angle the bit upwards. This seems to help for me. I haven't had to clean my atty in 4 days so far. Usually I have to clean it in 2 days. Now I can rest in peace. I almost went to buy 4 more ciscos but now that this one is lasting, I will wait until I down to 3 attys. As of now I got 3 attys for RY4 and 3 for djarum black. All 1.5 510s. All working nice on my first box mod I made.

I tried this last night with a 1/16 ‘’ drill bit and WOW. I guess an atty really is like a carb :) However, I do have a question I was hoping my fellow ReoNauts would help me out with. Is there anything I could hit inside the atty if I were to drill too far? Or what would be the biggest thing to watch out for as to not ruin the atty when doing this procedure? Thanks guys!

I have 2 Cisco 510 2 ohm attys, both of which I've used for about a week. I have tight draws on both of them, so I'm asking my husband to drill them out. He pointed out to me that the 1/16th drill bit is going to make a large hole. Looking at an atty, it seems as if the hole will be enlarged into the grooves. Can anyone give me something clearer to tell my husband so he doesn't screw it up by my instructions.

Just drill out one hole first. I used the same size bit and it didn't mar the threads at all. Use high speed and light pressure. It's easy and doesn't take much effort to enlarge the hole.

You could try plugging the unaltered air hole with a toothpick and see how it draws. I've never done this but if you are going to throw them away it might work..can't hurt. Stuff a round wooden toothpick in there and snap it off then use a small file to make it flush. THat may tighten the draw up to your liking.

Thanks ltrainer. I will have to try that, though the drilling was so minor, I can't tell which hole he drilled. He did 7 attys.:?: But I can't blame him because I asked him to.

I have only 4 attys left, so I bulk ordered the Joye 510 LR and Joye 510 standard. I don't think I'll mess too much with stuff until I get more experienced. That was a costly mistake for me to make.

...

Plug either hole. It should Basicaly get your atty back to where it was before the drilling.

So if I made the atty too airy, there is hope for it to tighten up again if I keep using it?
Yes it will eventually clog up. I never drill out any of my attys until the draw starts getting tight . Do one side after a few days if you began to feel the draw is to tight repeat the procedure on the other hole. Remember to blow the atomizer off with compressed air to remove any brass filings

I just gave this a go after seeing this earlier today. What a difference. My atties always tighten up after about a week, I mostly vape a 80vg/20pg blend, and the vg really clogs up atties. I used a 1/32" grinding bit on a dremel to open the sides of the air hole on my 306. It took a bit of patience with such a small bit, but it did the trick. I'm getting nice smooth draws again on my Grand.

Thanks for the tips everyone! :)

I just gave this a try and it worked well. I used a 1/16, the smallest size in my drill bit case. I had to drill out both holes. On the first one the draw stayed the same. It compleley cleared up on the second but it's a little airy but better than suffy for sure. You might want to get a 1/64 like somone else says they use and step up to the 1/16 later if needed.

To do the job I just put the bit on my cordless drill, held the atty in one hand and the drill in the other and drilled it slowly until I felt it break through. Peice of cake. Keeping the drip tip on while drilling made it easy to hold and gave some leverage against the pressure of the drill against it.

This is a great solution to clogged attys and keeps you from having to toss them as often.

Thanks for the great suggestion guyz!

:)

wow...what a difference a day...er ..hole makes! I finally got up the nerve to try this....I figured ..since I learned to slot cartos...I CAN do this...so...I used my dremel that I bought for slotting....my atty was just plain crappy...no draw...no vapor, then I would flood it...almost tossed it...NOW..it works!! drilled one hole..will do the other when needed...thanks all...
