Knowing that the one year anniversary of the release of our Drip-on-Demand was
approaching, I was delighted to be asked to judge the contest for decorated
DoD's. My efforts at painting DoD's arose because I was sick and
tired of hearing the DoD compared to a crack pipe. That was nonsense
and I set out to show that the DoD could be personalized and decorated to become
a "statement" piece for vapers.
Judging your designs has been a pleasure. So many excellent designs! Everyone
is to be congratulated for your creativity. I saw many designs that amazed me,
many that made me laugh, many parodies that were tremendously clever, many that
had great eye appeal, many that showed your great artistic abilities and many
that were just plain fun. How to decide? That was the challenge. I come at
this from a non-vaping, only slightly creative, feminine, old lady point of
view. I considered a number of criteria in judging: creativity, artistic
design, eye appeal, simplicity vs difficulty to replicate, the WOW factor, fun,
and if it was appealing to mainly feminine or masculine users. I say again, it
was a very difficult contest to judge because I liked so many of your designs.
But Steve promised a first-, second- and third-place winner and so that's what I
was obliged to choose. So here goes:
3rd place winner: Rum2- by Magnus Eunson/Spacekitty
very colorful design, style would appeal to masculine and some feminine vapers,
creative and fun, great eye appeal. Design could reasonably be replicated and
painted on DoD with some difficulty. This entry was produced and magnanimously
entered for Magnus Eunson by Spacekitty. Magnus receives the third place prize and Spacekitty
receives an Albino DoD for the nice gesture.
3rd place prize: Choice of a painted DoD and an extra DoD kit.

2nd place winner: Kitty by Sandybeach
WOW factor, extremely clever design, style would appeal to both masculine and
feminine vapers, great eye appeal. I do not think this design could be
replicated by hand painting (not by this judge/artist anyway). But I do think
it could be replicated by sticker and used on a DoD and look great.
2nd place prize: An Albino DoD and 3 DoD kits.

1st place winner: Cherry Blossom by DeviantDe
Design utilizes the entire DoD, fabulous eye appeal, great artistic design,
wonderful coloration chosen, probably appeals to mostly feminine DoD users but I
think the design will be appreciated by any vaper. Design could possibly be
recreated by hand painting with some difficulty.
1st place prize: A Jack the Reaper Coffin Mod w/batteries, Your choice of a hand painted DoD and 3 DoD kits.

I cannot let the contest end without giving a shout out to some Honorable
Mention designs:
These designers showed wonderful creativity, used parody to make fun designs,
would be appealing to everyone.
Honorable Mention #1: The Baby Bottles by Spacekitty
Honorable Mention #2: Wood by Gummy Bear
Honorable Mention #3: Darth Vaper by Marie
Honorable Mention #4: Skull/Dragon by DeviantDe
Congratulations to all the named winners and to EVERYONE who sent in a design.
I enjoyed each and every one of them and I thank you for sharing your art and
ideas. Hopefully you'll be seeing many of these designs used in future DoD's!
Keep up the great work. The “Judge” Sharon Chase
First let me say Thank You to all that have participated. All of the entries were terrific and we do appreciate you taking the time and effort to make this contest a great success. My only regret is that everyone could not win the first prize. I cannot in good conscience have so many contestants left out of the prizes so
in appreciation for a job well done everyone who sent in an entry will receive a Drip on Demand kit. That way everyone wins. I hope you enjoy it and we can’t wait to see what kinds of new decorations you come up with on your Drip on Demand…Steve Chase
