So I got an acrylic drip tip and stuck it on my ProTank Mini and was surprised what a difference it makes. The drip tip that comes with the tank is stainless steel and therefore conducts heat / cold (this time of the year, just cold). Because the drip tip is cold, the vapor passing through it cools down tremendously. With the acrylic drip tip it doesn't do that, producing a warmer vape. What a great little $3 investment.

But then I wouldn't be able to eat deep dish pizza while vaping and wouldn't be able to look at the tallest building in America out my window while doing so (and no, "spires" or "antennas" don't count, New York).

HAHA.

As far as drip tips go though, I agree that different materials can affect the vapor temperature and also the flavor of the vapor. As well as the feel in your mouth.

With so many different materials to choose from(Stainless, brass, aluminum, acrylic, delrin, types of stone, glass, etc etc), it really depends on the person. But I could see how sticking a stainless steel drip tip to your mouth in the winter in Chicago would probably not be the most comfortable thing.

What other materials are drip tips made out of, and what kind of difference do they make? I'm also noticing that there is less airflow sneaking in from between the tip and the tank with the acrylic one, producing a harder vape (or it could be that the air hole is just smaller). I had this tip sitting around for a while because it looks so cheap, but it really does affect the quality of the vape.

I keep my heat on low as well to save on energy. Rather just bundle up than spend the cash, so the stainless steel does get pretty cold overnight.

Since I'm a dripper and use RDA's, and since I drop my mod all the time and have broken many a nice drip tip in the past, I prefer the stainless steel drip tips with a wide straight down opening for easy dripping. But like Jayvaps said, it all depends on what you are using your drip tip for and of course, I wouldn't want to use a metal one in freezing weather but it's never freezing here. lol. I used to love the Cherry Vapes drip tips due to the wide opening, but have broken too many of them. The comfort factor of the drip tip is also important. I don't like ones that are too big or have a bulb type end to them because they aren't comfortable to me.

my car rig has one of those multipack pawn shaped plastic tips. steel tip + teeth + big bump in the road = ouch.

unfinished steel or aluminum tips i feel i can taste much like you would canned beer as opposed to bottled beer.

i agree. the unfinished drip tips tend to impart a metallic taste that i dont quite care for.

also, the shape of the drip tip will affect your vape too. short ones vs tall vs wide vs narrow bore- all all plays a factor.

another thing i have noticed is like you say, material. i have found ceramic to be not only non-conductive, but non-flavor imparting like some metal and plastic tips can impart. my ceramic tip is one of my faves. i expect glass to be great as well. and with the $2.25 glass ones that jus thit FT, i for sure scooped one :)

This is the drip tip I'm using. Nice little cheap but effective piece acrylic.

I've gone off the cheap plasticy ones (like you normally get with the better cigalike 3 piece jobs). I think they might be delrin, but I'm not sure.

They didn't bother me at first, but then I got some steel ones with better atomisers, and now the plasticy ones feel strange. I don't like banging my teeth on the steel, but it doesn't happen often if I'm careful.

I've just gone on a buying spree, getting some wood, ceramic, jade and acrylic, for taking out and about with me - where I'm less likely to pay attention to not banging my teeth. Let's face in, in the overall cost breakdown of this habit, there's not really any excuse for not trying all of them... ;)
