So I just re-coiled a mini PT 2 and I'm switching between the stock 1.8 coil (which meters @ ~2.0...) and the one I built (1.5ish).

It seems like the one I rebuilt with a cotton wick isn't giving me a dry mouth nearly the same as when I use the same juice with the stock coil. I was starting to think it was high PG juices but at the same time this juice I'm using to test now is supposed to be 70% PG and when I use the cotton wick it's not giving me the same dry mouth feeling.

Could the wick material be a source of some side effects, including dry mouth? Has anyone else experienced different side effects with different wick material? Am I just crazy or is there something else at play here, is the coil to blame?

is the new coil making more vapor? the pg/vg is a desiccant and will cause dehydration if by chance the new coil is making more vapor that is more juice per hit in your mouth absorbing more moisture each time.

just my guess

Could be that it's making more vapor, but I feel like I don't hold the button as long to make more vapor. Maybe it's the temperature I'm vaping at, now it's making more vapor (more coil) but I'm not heating it up for as long?

I don't really feel like the amount of vapor changes because I hold the button differently for each coil, I guess that's a variable too...

I've never heard that silica has given people dry mouth, or any other issues. Different coil material I have heard can cause irritation type issues. The two commonly used coil wires are Kanthal and Nichrome. Anyone know what coil material is used in the PT 2?
I'm using 28awg Kanthal A-1, not sure what the stock coils come with exactly. Still not sure why the stock coil is making my mouth drier...

To make apple to apples I would try to hit 1.8-2.0 ohm coil build to be sure.

Are you doing regular coils or microcoils? Microcoils do make better vape and possible vaporizing the pg better.

It's definitely a microcoil, 1/16" drill bit, I accidentally bought 28awg wire so I have to do hella wraps to get my target impedance. I'm still leaning towards the temperature / vaporization efficiency as the major variable and assuming my rebuilt coil is performing better, I think you're right.
