Ok, I received my Dse905 on 12/7. I believe it is the v2, there's no hole in the atty connector. It started the the zombie dance, as some have referred it, last night while I was holding it. Unscrewed the atty and all was fine. Then 10 miutes ago, while reading over the forum, I look over on the counter and there's vapor coming out of the whistle tip. No lights flashing, nothing to show that it's on.. This really stinks. I was starting to love the little guy. He's just so cute. But I cannot have him misbehaving.. Has anyone replaced the electronics with a simple switch.. I'd actually like to do away with the main on/off switch and LED's, but I'd hate to tear it apart if there's a quick fix. Are there any other posts on this matter..

You probably have the V1... Send the end with the black button back to the supplier for a replacement.

The recall was for interal protection electronics which would cause the PV to power up without pressing the button, and without it being in the "cleaning cycle", which sounds like the problem you are having.

As a side note, it was cause when the batt was installed backwards, positive pointing away from the atty side. Regardless, I would have it replaced.

As for your side note..excuse me, but the battery has never been install backwards. and my supplier confirmed it was a V2.

Don't take offence to "the battery being installed backwards", on many versions there were no instructions on how to install the batters. It is not clear which way to install the batts. How do you know which is the correct way?? I didn't know, till I tried it both ways...

My advice to you is to send back the top. Just because your supplier says its the V2 doesn't mean it is. We don't know when the electronics were updated, we don't know if the V2 was produced after this issue was fixed and even some V2s have the V1 electronics in them.. China is not known for its quality control or is documentation of issues.

Clearly you have an issue, the issue of the V1 and the only solution is to replace it.

If you want to disregard either of the 2 only fixes to the problem, I can't be of any help.

There is no simple fix. Its not a small issue like a switch that sticks/shorts.

What happens is the logic in the electronics is messed up, so its applying power even when the switch is not pressed. you could gut it an rewire the whole thing yourself, but....

You should contact your vendor to get an assurance that the models shipped have been fixed and tested, then keep a close eye on them yourself.

Install the battery backwards (positive away from the atty) and if it turns on and doesn't turn off, send it back.
