I know I am going to get flamed hard for this, but I just don't see the point of this particular petition.
The language is so vague that even if it gets acted upon, there is no course of action other than the status quo.

Ecigs are already being treated as an alternative tobacco product by the FDA, and ecigs are already creating as many American jobs as the demand will bear with every week seeing dozens of new American vendors popping onto the scene.

I signed the petition, but I would have preferred to see more exact and decisive language such as,

1) Ecigs should not be taxed as tobacco products because they have not been shown to create the same health problems and medical costs as traditional tobacco usage, or

2) we demand that current ecigs and ejuice Ecigs receive full testing and published reviews within 2 years by the FDA to determine the actual risk compared to the flawed and BS tests from the past that clog the internet, or

3) that we demand Congress to give a tax break or subsidies equal to a percentage of the money spent on smoking-related illnesses to US manufacturers of ecigs and accessories, or

4) Congress shall pass no ban on ecig or ecig related products until full testing has been done to determine that ecigs pose a health hazard greater than current tobacco products.

Really, any specific request would have been better than such a vaguely languaged petition that allows any politician to say that they support this cause without actually doing anything or sponsoring any bills.
Demand specifics from your representitives or they'll just smile and nod there head at you to get your vote and campaign contribution while doing nothing.

If I missed something in the language of the petition that demands a specific course of action as in a sponsored bill, or if you feel that the language can't be improved upon, please speak up and let me know.
Like I said, I already signed it, along with anything and everything that comes down the pike on our side of the issue, but in my book this is the most wishy-washy thing I've signed yet.

Sorry guys, but my signature always comes packaged with my honest two cents worth of opinion.

Mr Wizard

"The language is so vague that even if it gets acted upon, there is no course of action other than the status quo."

No Flame.

As you can see, I have very few post but I have been reading all the information I can on proposed legislation and possible bans of electronic cigarettes. I think the intention of the petition is to give the individuals that have been trying to educate the public and stop the bans, some ammunition for their arguments, which include the exact points you made. There has been so much misinformation about electronic cigarettes as to their risk, a petition like this will show there are people out there using the products. The bigger the voice the better chance of educating the lawmakers and the public of the alternative to tobacco products. It is not going to be an easy process but what is worse, fighting for an alternative or returning to tobacco. I for one prefer to fight for the alternative. My family and I are much happier for more reasons I could list here.

I think it may be seen as an opportunity for recognition rather than a comprehensive plan or call for action. Recognition must come first. ...a 'foot in the door' as it were.

3,896 - Keep them coming please folks!!

I know the wording of the petition might not be exactly what some folks would like to see but THANKFULLY someone started this one while the threshold was 5K...now that is has moved to 25K - to me it is even more important that we meet the 5K mark and then some. It has been tough to get 5K in 30days. I'm not sure we could get 25K in that same time frame.

Please keep it moving :)
