I know this post is a bit old but I have to give it a bump for some more opinions on this. I also have a problem with being able to taste things in the juice that others can't. I have a huge ziplock bag full of juice I cannot vape. It has made me very hesitant to buy or try out any new vendors/flavors. I'm basically pigeon holed into vaping only one flavor, Atomic Cinnacide from Tasty Vapor. I'm also a throat hit fanatic so it makes it twice as hard to find anything vapable.

The tastes/undertones I dislike: burnt chocolate/coffee, rubber/plastic undertone, perfume undertone, rotten fruit (VG), vending machine banana, and general chemical taste.

The flavors/vendors that taste good: Tasty Vapor's Atomic Cinnacide, Butter Rum, and Amaretto Stone Sour; everything in the Halo sampler (too subtle though); Johnson Creek's Black Cherry and Summer Peach; Madvapes Ultamint.

The flavor/vendor that tastes good AND has enough throat hit: Tasty Vapor's Atomic Cinnacide @ 100% PG 36-48 mg.

What PV do I use? I started out with a basic manual 510. Second, was a 3.7v box mod with Boge LR cartomizers. Third, was a Roughstack 3.7v-7v with Boge LR cartomizers. I haven't tried the higher voltage yet, soon though. I did have some 5v 510 PTs but they all died. I also have LR 510 t-tanks, LR atomizers for dripping, and LR 306 atomizers for drip/dip.

I've had these flavors for at least a year. Steeping does not work for me. It always tastes the same as when I first open it. I've tried them over and over again in the last year or so with various configurations of the list above.

As you can see, I have quite a dilemma. I would love to love more flavors. I will make a chart/guide/anything for sensitive taste buds if I can get enough opinions on certain flavors/vendors. Please help!

Edit: I almost forgot... I cannot handle EcoPure AT ALL! It has the most pungent cotton candy/rotten fruit taste of all VG I've tried. It overwhelms whatever flavor it is they are trying to create and makes all of them taste almost the same. It almost made me hate VG forever.

I can handle a little VG in some liquids and the only 100% VG liquid I could vape was from Vermont Vapor. I'm the type of person who can smell this stuff even if it's only 90/10 PG/VG. I'm completely baffled that I was able to vape 100% VG from Vermont Vapor without that nasty flavor (I could still smell it though lol).

Luckily, a friend coaxed me into trying it. Now I know there is in fact vapable VG out there. I was literally terrified of VG funk after EcoPure.

I agree completely. If the flavor says it's this flavor, then it should taste like said flavor...

A prime example includes the Marshmallow, Cotton Candy, and the Sweet Dreams' like Vanilla/Cherry flavors from MFS and the Juicy Peach from Good Prophets.

I've said this before but I think it bears repeating here. As someone who has been losing sight for some 20 or so years and now has only miniscule sight remaining that nobody can refer to as usable, my sense of taste, feel of texture, and even sounds are heightened more with each drop in my vision. I would gander a guess that when my sight is completely gone, those extra senses will kick in much stronger.

Now I don't particularly care for menthol but that's just a personal preference; it has nothing to do with the person mixing it or the combination of ingredients. It is nothing more nor less than my dislike of menthol.

When Chris at MFS attempted to created the Cherry-flavored Sweet Dreams e-liquid (think the Bidis that were so popular some years back... the county here decided they didn't want them here b/c it might "encourage" teens to smoke, which is a load of bull....!) I am living proof, in a matter of speaking, of someone who would have began smoking regardless of advertisements or the like. I began in my pre-teens then continued on throughout my 20s, 30s, and finally switched to the E-Cigs in my 40s. The process Chris went through (MFS) was meticulous and greatly appreciated. I would always let him know if the taste was a bit strong or was low in the cherry-flavoring/vanilla flavor, etc... and the last batch I received from him was right on the mark.

PS: Thank you Chris, if I forgot to tell you!

The important thing any vapor needs is an excellent sense of taste. If you want to learn more about training your palate to different flavors, try spending time at a taste-testing session at a winery; attempt to take a day to visit a coffee roaster establishment to taste-test their coffees when pulled as espresso shots. The latter is where you learn the undertones, overtones, and the flavors that burst out from the coffee beans albeit one has to have a very well-educated barrista to pull the shots. I don't worry about that anymore because I roast my own coffee beans, grind them in a burr grinder, and finally pull 1, 2, or 3 shots using different size filters that fit into a portafilter that sits in the group head after the beans are ground, packed, tamped, and ready to brew. It's much like tasting fine wines at a winery Some wines are great with a meal, others for resting after a long day, and others are for dessert, etc... It's a matter of studying which goes with what and then sticking to it. It helps tremendously to learn from the best: the best winery taste-tester, the coffee company's taste-tester to determine the best beans and from where they originate, etc... I prefer Persian coffee means known as Sumatra when pulled right through the espresso machine along with the Kona beans that are grown in Hawaii.

Besides, if you learn to taste-test in your free time, you will certainly impress any dates you may have by knowing the right wine for the right meal and the best coffee for the greatest after-meal flavor with dessert. It just takes time. Even my 14yo can tell the differences between where a wine was grown, the undertones, overtones, and flavors that stand out in her mind when she tastes them (Wine tasting requires one to sort of swish the wine in a glass to determine color, body, and etc... but then there's the testing and that requires tasting the flavor but you always spit out the wine to prevent coloring the next one; it's much the same in cupping coffee beans from various coffee growers)

For some, it's natural but for others, it is an ability/gift you can learn or at the very least learn to appreciate it. I don't see e-liquid as any different.

Why would you say that a juice tastes like pears if it doesn't? That's not very helpful to someone looking for a juice that tastes like pears, is it? If you don't think it tastes like pears, don't say that it does - tell us what it really tastes like.

I don't think we're expecting too much. Some juices come pretty darn close to tasting like the real thing without a chemical flavor. Others are just the opposite. Those who manufacture the latter should strive to be more like the former. Those of us who care about the quality of the flavor pursue it. If you don't, that's fine.

Phaya:

It helps if you place each flavor liquid in it's own ziplock bag so the flavors don't have time to meld together thus spoiling the bunch. Prevent the liquid from getting hot by keeping them in a cool area away from light. I keep my liquid in zip-locked bags but also they are kept in a winery cooler for the wines I own that are best chilled rather than left in a wine cellar, which I don't own; however, I do have a perfect spot in the house to keep the non-chilled wines where they will keep for as long as possible and then I have a wine rack for wines I drink regularly with a meal or while cooking when a friend stops by but I also use different wines when I am cooking to give the food a specific flavor.

If you separate out your vape liquids into small baggies or even screw on top glass bottles that will hold your regular bottled vape liquid then keep them cool in a fridge area's crisper for vegetables or in a wine cooler. I keep my mine in the cooler for the wines that should be cooled while others are in an area of the house that stays relatively cool but not cold to store the rest of the wines I have put back with a few bottles of champagne. it takes practice, time, and the will to work hard at learning the different flavors and ambiances of various drinks - incl coffees, wines, and e-liquids. But also, it's important to buy from reputable sources as well. That is the most important thing to do. You'll be there in no time flat. Best of luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

BTW, check out any local wineries or coffee roasting houses. That can help you along the way. We have 2-3 great wineries here and I've purchased (or used to before money got so tight) wines from Nappa Valley as well as a couple of foreign wines I come to love but surely can't afford now. :(

Paise - wishing you all the best...

FYI: Don't chill red wines. It causes them to lose the flavor that mixes well with the meal prepared to go with it. :)

paise and Phayah,
Have either of you tried any of the coffee e-juice flavors?
My favorite all-time coffee to drink/savor is from the Hilo plantation in Hawaii. I have tried a few different e-juice coffee flavors and either I am not meant to vape coffee flavor or I haven't found the right one.
Wondering what your thoughts/experience are on this.

Trapped within my imagination
I personally love juice reviews (feeds my juice junkie side lol)..However, I don't run out and buy a juice off of one review..If there are 5 positive reviews that just ups your chances of liking it to 50% lol..(after reading this thread, I think this is the first time I've been thankful that I have sleepy tastebuds lol)

Which brings me to my next point...I never review/suggest anything without adding the state of my tastebuds= sleepy..As well as the type of juices I generally prefer...I wish more would do this.
As far as people not stating what juices they think are really bad..There is actually a very long thread or 2 on "the worst juice you've ever tried"(can't remember what catagory it's in now) and people are quite vocal on that thread often stating they found it perfumey etc.. It's quite funny/entertaining as well..

I also agree with the nibble of cracker/drink or smelling of coffee to clear your pallet as well as brushing your teeth/tongue before testing flavs...

In regards to $ spent on finding flavs..Yes, it's great if you can afford to buy sample packs from every vendor..However, that can add up quick and I've found that many vendors liquids have a very specific base flavor, be it perfumey/soapy/heavy on tobacco/moldy-for lack of a better word lol or clean...And If you hate their base flav you probably wont like most the juices in the sample pack(yes, there are exceptions to this rule).. I prefer to buy one 1-2 juices from each vendor wanting more to get a handle on their base flav than the actual flav..In the long run the s&h are worth it..
Next. I buy empty sample bottles from -Cylinder and Boston Round Bottles with Dropper Caps | U.S. Plastic Corp. ( 21. a 3 ml bottle, least expensive I've found so far..If anyone knows of a better deal please let me know)
Then I seek out peeps to trade with (following someone with similar taste to yours is great)..But, It doesnt hurt to ask nicely..Suggesting that youd love to try a sample of their such and such juice- list all the juices you have to see if they'd want to try one( offer up your fav flavs that you have too, you want to build future trades lol)..And lastly give them an out> I understand if you don't do trades but, just thought I'd ask (smile)..Many times this leads to conversations and several samples traded...
This is easier between ECF veterans because theyve been around for a while and both know they are seriously into vaping= trust...

( yes, I know I talk/type too much....but, hey I'm bored lol.)
