Hmm. If it's true ECC didn't give vendors a heads up until the last minute, they really have no right to go around and serve these pretend legal papers. Just looks like a publicity stunt to me.. not at all with even the tiniest bit of tact. Especially from the video, just looks like a couple of guys looking to stir some trouble.

I agree. When they show the paper the ATTN: portion isn't even typed up, it's just hand written very sloppy. These guys are an example of what some of the vaping community act like.

Edit: I also just noticed his shirt "Buying Clones Supports Terrorism" or something like that. I haven't hated the vaping community more than I do now. Sigh.

I'm not saying that the "Papers" that were "Served" at ECC 2014 were Real or Not.

But I know that if Someone Pulled a Stunt like that on Me/My Company and then Posted it to YouTube, that my Attorney would be Drafting a Deformation Suit against the Individuals who were part of it, and any Legal Entities who they may represent, siting Slander against my company.

Legal Street Theater is Fun. But it can also have Legal Repercussions.

BTA, I wouldn't be Selling 1:1 Clones in the First Place. So I guess it would Never Happen to start with.

I'm pretty sure the OP's point was that one does not need to create exact "clones" of other mods when they can just take the best innovations of those mods & make a cheaper version of said mod, without it being a replica. And in so doing, no one would be getting in any trouble for selling clones, yet they would still have a less expensive alternative to offer consumers.

No idea who ijoy is but those two guys serving the papers were complete idiots. I like how they ended their video with a plug for "vaping elitist" what ever that is, but it goes to show their mentality. In the early days the vaping community seemed amazing, now it's sliding into a mainstream thing and the jokers are making up a larger and larger portion of vapers.

For anyone looking for the vid, just go to youtube and search "ijoy ecc" and it's the first result.

I too have heard that ECC took money from vendors and then said no clones and no refunds. Bad on ECF. If you change the rules after you get the money at least offer to give the money back. Even if you did offer money back it is still bad to change the rules at the last minute.

In addition to the defamation suit against the servers I would have my attorney look at my contract with ECC. I would also not be a supporter next year whatever the contract said.

No kidding.
I dont know what it is with trade show promoters but a lot of them have serious ego problems. If those guys actually do work for ECC, then they need to be fired and ECC should probably call it quits just for hiring those fools in the first place.

It has been reported the cease and desist letter was from Kryptonite. The rights to the Kryptonite trademark is held by DC Comics which they have successfully defended in court, DC Comics Prevails In Trademark Suit Vs. Kryptonite.

Perhaps the exercise in idiocy that we see on the video is what is to be expected when IP thieves turn on one another.

A little Google FU, and you can find blow up still shots of the papers that were flashed at the camera, and it does appear to be Kryptonite. The 454 was the second authentic RDA I purchased, and now I wish I could get my money back and buy the clone. Too late for that now, but I will NEVER, EVER, buy another product from them, EVER again. I don't care where you fall on the clone/authentic argument, behavior like this should be unacceptable. No questions. It really makes me question my decision to start buying more authentic gear when I feel that the price is justified. For what? To support people like this?? Mr "buying clones supports terrorism? It's actually very dissappointing, to be honest.
