I dry burn and then rinse and burn again while moist and then rinse again. Just the way I do it as I have done a dry burn before and then when I used the coil had a nasty smoky burn taste so I just rinse them. I do notice after the first burn and when I stick them into the water hot and then shake that most of the time there is a lot of black stuff that comes out. Not sure my way is the proper way or if there is a proper way, this just seems to work best for me. Sorry couldn't be of more help.
