Great article and straight to the jugular! I posted on my facebook page as I have a couple of friends who still smoke. Based on my experience, e cigarettes do work for the majority of people. I was a smoker for more than 40 years and thought I could never give up smoking. That is, until my daughter bought me my first set up seven and a half months ago. A week and and a half later, I gagged on my last cigarette and have not craved them since then.

It is so blatantly obvious that the big pharmaceutical companies are behind the scare tactics. We're talking big money from the sale of inefficient smoking cessation therapies that don't even work in the long run. I don't personally feel the big tobacco companies are behind the fear mongering as, after all, all they have to do is switch gears and offer electronic cigarettes.

I truly believe some people feel cheated that there is a way to enjoy vaping and avoid the pain of smoking cessation. They appear to believe former smokers must suffer! What is wrong with them? The lady who manufactured the original fake study report article is disturbed. The reposte was on target.

Yes, there is a stop smoking site that shall remain unnamed, that has a core group of people thart get downright nasty about vaping, regardless of what you are vaping. In their mind you haven't quit smoking unless 1. You no longer smoke cigarettes 2. You no longer use nicotine and 3. You no longer do anything that looks like smoking although they approve of using a straw or a pen as a prop to replace the hand to mouth.

Now when I was growing up, smoking was setting on fire some form of vegetation and inhaling smoke. Nope, smoking has been redefined. According to these people, you're still smoking if you use anything that contains nicotine (nightshade plants excluded). You use snus, you're smoking. You use Ariva, you're smoking. Stonewalls? Smoking. You get the picture. E cigs with zero nicotine, to these people is still smoking. Why? Because it looks like smoking and you're still puffing.

They can't stand when long committed smokers discover an easy way to finally quit smoking and to find it without the self flagellation they went thru and, I might add, are still going through. You almost want to say to them that you haven't quit smoking until you stop harassing others to quit "their way". Of course they actually believe quitting smoking is harder than quitting the most addictive drugs or drinking coffee. It's a shame they needed all that pain to get there.

I have a friend/coworker over there who I actually got started vaping.... she's not a hobby vaper, she's trying to quit it all. I thought they might back off a bit when she got to 0 nic, but nope, now it's about the puffing. I'm still hopeful that she'll come over here some day but she's afraid she won't be accepted by the hardcore vapers because she's trying to give it up.

IMO vapers are like people with tattoos. The difference between people with tattoos and people without is the people with tattoos don't give a flying %^*& that you don't have any.

Wow, has she ever got it wrong!

So instead of letting us help her with open arms and understanding hearts, she stays over there in the snake pit?
We can most certainly help her quit the nicotine, no question about that.

As far as quitting the "puffing" I guess she might need some help with that, and maybe that snake pit would be better for that.

But really, their belief in the need to quit the puffing is all a load of crap in my opinion.
They think the continuation of the actions of the habit will make a person eventually go back to cigarettes.

But most of us have found that once you become a real vaper, it really takes a concerted effort to deal with the taste and stench of a cigarette.

So while we sit here puffing away, with no desire whatsoever to go back to cigarettes...
They sit there worrying every day that they must never ever have "one more puff" for the rest of their lives.

They claim to be free, but I say we are the ones that are free.

I wouldn't trade my three years of being free from smoking with no worries of ever going back, for one day of being free of it all and worried that I might relapse!

Amen!!!!! I'm only a year in, vaping without smoking for 4 months, then ended up back to the cigs when we had a family crisis and I wasn't prepared. This time, I didn't pressure myself, the drop in smoking just happened and I have no desire for one at all. I tried one about 3 months in after about a month without one and actually made myself sick. I accidentally went from 12MG to 6MG when I screwed up an order and feel great on the 6, so I'll stay there for now. If I ever do get to 0 nic and give up vaping, (not that I'm planning that, but I am going to try my friend's 0 nic just to see if I'm a nicotine addict or a puffing addict), I will NOT put any pressure on myself to not vape. I don't ever want to live in the fear that I'll go back to almost 2 PAD. As long as I have my vape, I know that won't ever happen.

Very fair piece here. I think it stuck to the facts and addressed some realities we see discussed on this site all the time. I can tell you one thing, this is a growing lifestyle choice. I have payed it forward three times, and I suspect they will do the same. It is very hard to see any downside to vaping.

Analogs are toast in the long term.
