Today I had the opportunity of properly educating a smoker about vaping. It's the first time that I did it, believe it or not. The feeling afterwards felt so good, leaving me feeling so accomplished like I did a great deed. I know that as a general rule a person should not approach a smoker and try to convert them but there can be exceptions to that I learnt. It can also depend a lot on the person you're speaking to about it.
I have seen this woman many times at a place that I frequent. She is very outgoing and nice. Today when I was outside I saw her smoking a cigarette. Now normally I am shy towards approaching people I don't really know. I guess that is just my personality, though with this woman I've seen how nice she is to others in the past so I decided to ask her if she ever tried electronic cigarettes. She told me that she has tried ones but they were the cheap cigalikes and they didn't work. I went on to explain how electronic cigarettes were a success for me quitting. Then I explained what the ingredients are in the juice and how she can save so much money with vaping. I said that buying the device is just an investment but she'd save so much in the long run. I then referred her to some vape shops and told her the difference between a smoke shop and vape shop... I covered other areas about vaping in our conversation and in the end she was so happy I spoke to her about vaping.
We spoke for at least 5-10 minutes and I felt I was able to properly educate her without being pushy or anything of that nature. When we parted ways I felt like a million bucks. Even if she doesn't take my advice I did what I can do to help another person and the situation called for it. I'm sure that others have had the opportunity to do the same. When it's the right place, person and moment, it's worth taking that opportunity. I think that if others and I can hear people's experiences similar to mine, I think that would be very nice
