I pressed the fire button while the metal body of the rda was not screwed on, I was just sort of holding it in place. It must of hit the coil.

The first one I built was very messy. The two coils were different from each other in terms of tightness and length etc. I think I may have used too much cotton too. It was just a bit of a mess lol

My second try isn't pretty but it's functional..

Your right coil looks very close to the edge, may short on the cap. Your left coil, upper leg is long. Try to keep legs even in length for maximum efficiency.
Don't give up on the magma. A single coil is very rewarding.
All in all your first builds were BETTER than mine..

The magma has been placed in the box of emergency vaping goodies. I'll probably use it to practice my builds on once my tools are here but it was just too hot with not enough air flow for me, even with the single Clapton it came built with.

Thank you very much for the pointers :) practice makes perfect.

Fishbone x5? Or that may be an s.

I have used my teeth to push the coils into the handle of the little screwdriver that came with my kanger tank. Like I said, it isn't pretty but it works lol.

Thank you for the advice. My sponge brain really appreciates all these little tidbits I've been picking up on this forum :)

Get a cheap tweezers from the drug store. Take the coil off the mandrel, hold it in the tweezers squeezing the loops into contact. Then heat the coil with a Bic lighter or in the fire of a gas stove until it glows red; remove the heat and hold it until it cools. That'll tighten them up. Needlenose works instead of tweezers. Using a kitchen glove to hold the tweezers will keep you from burning yourself. (Bic lighters will leave some soot on the coils, wash them before use.) Another method is to mount the coils into the atty and use the mod to heat them red. Then get off the fire button and squeeze them together with a tweezers or pliers, holding in place until they stop glowing. Do not grab the coil with a metallic instrument while the fire button is pressed. You already know what happens when you short a coil, no need to repeat the experiment :) (That's also why I said the ceramic tip tweezers are worth the money, they won't short the coil and they don't transfer heat well so the tweezers doesn't get too hot to hold.) When your ohmmeter comes in-- if you bought the one I think you did-- you can fire and squeeze the coils on the ohmmeter, no need to use the mod.

There is an meter in the kit so I probably bought the one you think I did lol

I tend to use my teeth for everything. I should probably stop that.

The hell boy didn't work but the fishbone is amazing, as was the velocity. You can barely see the TV when we are both dripping in here lol

Its definitely worth the extra effort :)

Lol, remember to turn of the smoke alarms :p I presume you switched over from tanks, did you? The general consensus is that tanks eat a lot more juice. To top that, rdas produces more flavour. Have you noticed any of these?

The juice is kinda hard to judge because you are constantly adding just a few drops and always switching out flavours, or at least I am. Even if dripping worked out to use 2-3 times the juice, you get that back in flavour. I have juices here that lay in the back of the cupboard because they tasted like cardboard in a tank. Now they rock! Even my old ADV (jimmy the juice man Max VG creme brulee ) which tasted great in the tank, is like a whole other juice when dripped. You can pick up much more subtle flavours that you didn't know where there.

I really cannot recommend it enough. Especially when used alongside the knowledge and advice from some awesome members on here. I am by no means an expert and have a long way to go but the first step of any journey is the hardest. That fear of mucking around with electrical stuff and then firing it close to your face is the biggest hurdle. The rest just takes a little time and patience :)

Has anyone had any experience with the VPark kit? Perhaps it’s a terrible device. I don’t know, but it is so. damn. cute! I want one. I need one.

I’ve had some more recommendations regarding sub ohm box mods. What can anyone tell me about the Wismec RX200 and the iJoySolo Mini? All I know is that I absolutely love the way they look. I’ll start some research soon but as always I’ll stat with you guys. So far I’m still pretty set on the VTC Mini but that could change. Actually I visited my local vape store today and it turns out that they have been selling massively discounted EVic VTC Mini’s since October. The whole kit for £32. They sold the last one last week. I’ve been in that store like twice a week since December, I have asked them what mods they have in a ton of times and they mentioned the VTC… arm, NEVER. Bummer.

VPark is a UKecigstore "special" which means three things.
1. Whatever it is (and I do know what it is, but can't remember) it will be available under a different guise for less money.
2. If you do decide to get one, buy it from a shop worthy of your money.
3. Don't buy it anyway, because it's a totally unknown make (more or less).

(Basically, it's a typical China curiosity. Nobody knows where they come from, they have no pedigree of making anything and should it go A over T and die on you, you want to have bought it from the best store for customer service, not the worst).
...in a few months, Chinese stores will start selling it as "Authentic" which means now people know a bit about it, this supposedly carries some provenance. (which is a bit of a joke... but the Chinese don't understand that concept)..

iJoy.... well let me search the recesses of my mind. iJoy have come a LONG way in a few years, but less than 6 or 7 months ago, they were doing bad business at Vape Conventions etc. They were selling almost nothing. The one you are talking about is a fab looking mod. From a vendor who is prepared to back you up, it could be worth a go.

BUT... bottom line, if eVic mini VTC is that sort of price, may as well bag it.
The only slight worry is "old' 60w versions are still on sale. Joyetech bumped their own stock up to 75w. If it's just power, then... blah, blah, who cares. If it's other improvements, then it could be an issue.

I don't know anything about the iJoy part, beyond what I read. It's one of the first one-battery TC mods available with three-wire support. It's so new, I haven't seen any feedback on it. I like the Wismec so much I ordered my second one about two hours ago. It really is an amazing piece of gear. Solid TC, supports all three wire types and is one of the very few true 200 Watt RMS mods available. The mod is astonishingly ergonomic and fits beautifully in the hand. It is smaller than all the two-battery boxes in my collection, despite being a three-battery rig (that's why it can handle 200 watts) and is, in fact, not much bigger around and actually shorter than my two one-battery boxes. See the photo, L to R: Koopor Plus with Advken Ωega RTA, Sigelei 150 with Mutation V4 RDA, Snow Wolf 200W with Lemo2 RTA, SX Mini with Indulgence MT RTA, Smok Treebox with Vortex RTA, Wismec RX200 with Indulgence MT RTA. The Koopor, Sigelei and Snow Wolf are two battery boxes. The SX and the Treebox are one battery. The Rx200 is three batteries.

Awesome collection suprtrkr. You have mentioned Indulgence MT to me before but I did not realise until now that it is a tank. And you have two of it as well. Is it really good? My mods came in the mail yesterday and my tanks came in today. I haven't unboxed them yet.

Actually, I have 3 of them. I bought two of them new, and the third, the black one you see on the Wismec, came to me used as part of the booty on a deal with another member here. It is really, seriously good. It's the best dual coil RTA I own, but it really isn't suitable for low watt, MTL vaping. It's very definitely a subohm medium to high watt thing. The juice channels in it are huge, so big I can't get enough wick in it to keep it from flooding even through a 3.5mm coil. I have to lay an additional small strip of rayon on the deck, under the coils, to hold back the flood :) Frankly, it's not a tank I'd recommend for beginners. For them I suggest the Lemo2; it's single coil and wicks like a Kayfun so it's easy to do and will get pretty foggy if they want to, or can be clamped down for MTL. The MT is not hard to build, really, in fact the deck is roomy, but wicking it is a challenge. It will hold some massive coils, too. We've got people over in the MT thread building it with Aliens and Tigers and Parallel Claptons and God knows what, lol. The one you see on the SX I take to work every day, and usually vape it in the 35 watt range; it is set up with dual parallel 28ga slick wire coils. The one on the MT is set up with dual 28ga SS twists and I run it in TC mode at 60 watts, 500 degrees. Here's a pic of the build deck, the coils are the parallel 28s:
20160108_180839[1].jpg

The only bad thing I'll say about it is I replaced the factory screws with some 2.5mm hex key grubs, and some people don't like the fact it only has one fill hole, although this doesn't bother me.

Hey guys, I've been having some problems with the micro edition of the family (the toddler son) so I just kind of dropped off.

Anyway, I'm begging some more advice. Hopefully I will be getting a new mod in the near(ish) future and I want to be kind of set on what to get. I keep coming back to the Eviv VTC Mini and I keep hearing great things about it. I have however, fallen in love with the Smok Micro One. What can you tell me about this mod, specifically compared to the Evic and taking into consideration that I'm a newb.

I always value you guy's opinion so I'm looking forward to what you think.

I have just retired the evic (not mini) to the other half. I have the smok x cube 2 now. I haven't tried the smok mod you are referring to but in the regards to the brands overall, the evic IMO would better suit a beginner. It is or at least it seems much more straightforward but I really love the x cube 2. Some of it is gimmicky like its fire bar and flashy lights but it just looks and feels like a nicer bit of kit, again in my personal opinion.

The evic is great too though so I don't think you would go far wrong with either.

I haven't used any of those vendors so I can't advise on that.

Hi Waxxiii, welcome home. I have never used-- even seen-- a Smok Micro One. I read, however, it is the "upgraded version of the Smok M80." What the upgrade consists of I have no idea. But the M80 did not have a good reputation in TC, the TC was wonky. It worked fine in wattage mode, so it wasn't a loss, but if TC is where you wanted to be, you needed something else. Maybe that's fixed, I dunno. But unless you can get a review from somebody who has one, I'd select the Evic over it if it was me doing it.

All three vendors you mention are good people. I buy all my nic, and occasionally gear, from MyFreedomSmokes. VaporDNA has an excellent rep, but I haven't ever bought anything from them except some wire and one Project Sub Ohm tank. And Vapenw... Bookmark that site! I've spent tons of money there; unbeatable prices, quality gear and fast service.

Where are the vendors based? I'm surprised actually that they are good. I expected a big STAY AWAY. I was always told that if it seems too good to be true it probably is and these prices are a-frigging-mazing.

If you were to buy a new device online, where would you generally buy? There are so many vendors it boggles my mind. I take it the gear from the above vendors is reliably authentic? Oh, I'm so untrusting. ;)

I suspected I would be advised to go with the Evic. I much prefer the aesthetics of the Smok Micro but the Evic seems to suit my needs better at the moment. Hell, I might get them both. I have a list of devices that I plan to own at some point actually. Here it is.

VPark VBox 30w (just because it’s so damn cute)
EVic VTC Mini
Subox or Topbox Mini
Nebox
Reuleaux RX200
Smok Micro One
EGo One Mega and Mini (for on the go/doesn’t matter if I lose/kill it)

I LOVE your collection btw. How long did you build it up over?

I only have the x cube 2 and then 2 RDAs and 2 tanks (these are just gathering dust.)

Every time I get something up to date, my previous items get passed along to the other half who uses them til they die. By which point I find something else I like and it all begins again :)

I loved the evic. OH still does. It's simple to use but provides all the power you are likely to need at this point in time.

VapeNW is American. I was just having a look on there. Not sure about the others.
