Thank you Cindy, and the rest of you as well. You've helped clarify some thread fit issues I was wondering about between 510s, EGOs and the Smokeless Image line of 808D and 808D/EGO threaded batteries. Currently I'm using 808D threaded ECHO gear, because the ECHO has been such a good automatic battery, and the 650mah length ones are not too obnoxiously long. Before that I used m401 series equipment fairly successfully, but that was a dead end. Now it seems the ECHO is something of a dead end as well. The ECHO (CE4 type) clearomizers are problematic (leakage and early death issues, mainly), and the DC cartomizers tend to not last very long either. Of course, I use all (or mostly all) VG juices, so that makes things even more difficult.
I've been at this for years now, and still prefer a good automatic battery to a manual one. Good automatic 510 or EGO batteries are hard to find, though I do have a few automatic mini 510s. They are okay, but the batteries don't keep a charge very long, and the cartomizers have similar issues to those of the ECHO - except the 510 cartomizers are ridiculously small in capacity by comparison. In some respects I preferred my old m401 gear to the mini 510 stuff, but the m401 series is pretty much dead now. I prefer the ECHO anyway (for the nice reliable fat bat and much bigger e-liquid capacity), but like I said - the ECHO is turning out to be a dead end.
So now I've been looking around for an ECHO replacement, and the automatic Smokeless Image Volt X2 or variable volt Spinner are currently at the top of my short list. I like the shorter 650mah sizes, and the automatic X2 is shorter than the automatic Spinner, so I'll probably go the X2 route. I've been worried about clearomizer selection though. The X2-T3 (or is it T3-X2?) Mini looks like it might work out for me, but not everyone is thrilled with it. It does sound better than the regular length version, and fits my smaller scale e-cig setup needs better, but I'm not sure it'll be that much of an improvement over those lousy, leaky, short-life-span ECHO CE4 clearomizers.
Now I'm finally getting some good information on SI product quality and reliability, and on other possible clearomizer alternatives. It sounds like I might want to go the route of getting some 808/510 adapters (or would that be 510/808 adapters?), just so I don't have a gap between the battery and the clearomizer. But what's the best source for those? And what will that allow me to fit on an SI X2 or Spinner? So far, I like the sound of just trying out the X2-T3 Mini first, then the Kanger T2, then maybe the Vision Victory 2.0 Tank. How does that sound? Would that mean I should probably go ahead and get an 808/EGO adapter as well, or does such a thing even exist? I get that I don't really need an adapter for functionality, I'm just thinking in terms of cosmetics as far as that goes.
Any input on the subject as regards where I'm coming from on this would be helpful and appreciated. I'm also open to not going the SI 808D route at all, but anything similar in a 510 or EGO setup would have to be a good automatic, which I'm not sure is really even out there. I'm not thrilled about having to get all new chargers to use an X2 either. I wish my ECHO chargers would work for that. They would for the regular size SI batteries, but I want to keep going the fat battery route. I'm wondering if the X2/Spinner chargers would work for the regular SI batteries? (Just in case I wanted to try them out, though I know that wouldn't work the other way around.)
I'm also curious if any of you have used all VG in these clearomizers we've been discussing. If so, which ones have worked out best for VG? In the ECHO gear, I usually only get about 2 days worth of decent service life out the clearomizers or cartomizers. The clearomizers cleanup easier, but typically end up leaking after cleaning, so both have ended up being something of a wash. Neither was very economical to use, which is one of the big issues I'm trying to correct. Diluting the VG juice with distilled water really didn't help much.
