Compared to a box mod or a provari (which to me looks like a mini-water cooler), it's still pretty tiny no? I guess if you're already happy with the performance of the ego without it, then that's ok. I don't think I can go back now though...I've been sucked in by the power of the booster....

I'm not saying they are horrible or anything...you misunderstood my post. What I don't like about it, but can live with it, is the added length on already long batteries. Plus the problems they are encountering with them coming apart. Me...I like it but I don't use it very much...it's a nice novelty item to have and use on occasion.

I got my Madvapes $35 vv box mod yesterday. In the middle of the voltage range with an XL clearomizer (single coil) it's a heavy vapor producer. With that same clearo atty on my eGo batts, it's good but not even comparable. The taste was weaker (but not bad at all) when I switched back to an eGo batt with a LR Boge carto.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to switch, but I am finding myself picking up the mod much more than I pick up the eGo today. It's nice to be able to roll the voltage up and down and find the sweet spot for whatever juice I'm vaping. It does make quite a change when you roll the voltage knob 1/8 of a turn.

I'm probably going to order the digital voltmeter adapter from Madvapes so that I can record the voltage I'm vaping at for future reference and repeatability. It's a tiny DVM that screws into the atomizer connection, then you screw the atomizer onto it and vape. When you vape, it displays the voltage, with a claimed accuracy within .005 volts.

One of the youtube reviews that I haven't found again, showed the one with the bar graph voltage indicator and used an online digital voltmeter to show that the battery read 4.15v without the atty attached and still showed 4.15v WITH the atty loading tha battery. Even the Riva batteries that show 4.15v unloaded go to 3.7 very quickly under atty load. There must be some additional magic in the regulator to be able to do that.

If you want a good VV, buy a Buzz, pro-v or Darwin, etc.

I would disagree. I mean, in terms of VV, there have always been cheaper VV units. Other pipe bomb mods (like the lavatube), box mods, etc. There is nothing new there. What the Ego Booster gives me is still unmatched. That is VV in an extremely compact form that makes it easily through airport security.

I have flow 75,000 miles since April 2011 when I quit analogs and started taking vape gear through security. I have never had a problem. Yesterday I flew from LAX to Miami to Key West with two Buzz pros, two e-powers and 3 egos in my Laptop bag. No questions asked.

I just had my Darwin swabbed by the bomb test going through HK a few weeks ago. I am a diamond member for 7 years with the Marco Polo club (Cathay's miles program) and one of the guards on duty at the check actually recognized me and said hello. You must be extraordinarily lucky or something is not right in your story (embassy passport or something?). As the Darwin looks like a mobile phone, some of the ones you named actually look like bombs and I would swab them if I was a guard even knowing what I know about PVs.

When I say no hassle, I mean no hassle. No swabbing, no special checks, no nothing. I took the Ego booster through Singapore security without any extra attention in August. That is something, as I've been pulled for just having too many match boxes in Singapore before.

Rut roh, mine field ahead! His story IS right on, without any "something". He travels the domestic route he mentioned almost monthly (probably more often), and has for quite a while. So, take him on his word and don't compare his travels with yours! KB is straight up...

To be clear, I wasn't doubting the veracity of his story, but if something was missing (like if he was traveling with an embassy passport). So you just nailed what was missing :). If its all domestic that is very different than traveling internationally. I can carry a bag full of lighters domestically (and have done so in China, local lighters there kind of are problematic long story), but take that through an international flight and you get pulled over immediately (of course I haven't actually tried that).

Edit: Its a "if I was the guard test". If I saw a pipe bomb mod or a box bod (one of those homemade looking ones not something like a Tekk mod), I would test it. While I know its a PV, it would also be potentially easy to stuff a real bomb in there and make it look like it should under xray. An Ego battery, well its all battery, its small and appears as such under xray. It would be hard to stuff anything that could actually do damage in it.

I don't blame the guard for swabbing my Darwin, I would've as well. Only reason I was traveling with it was because I just bought it and had it forwarded to my office in China so I could play with it on my trip. I would've given them heck for doing anything else for delaying me though, like forcing me into special processing or something.

Really? Because he questions your story he is "uninformed (ignorant) rude and discourteous"? Is nobody allowed to question you? Who are you that you are so great? You've been on this site for a whole 5 months, yet I'm supposed to bow down to your knowledge? Are you like a fat Jesus on a fishing boat? Please dear King of Vapor, forgive him his sins for doubting you.

Ok, now that was uninformed, rude and discourteous. There is a difference. You should learn it if you're going to take part in a DISCUSSION forum. Kinda hard to discuss something if nobody is allowed to question anything.

I wasn't trying to be offensive KeysBum, seriously! I wonder what in what I posted was either rude or discourteous? As for ignorant, I am not clear you have the right word?

As a fellow traveler, if you believe domestic travel and international travel is the same in regards to security, I am sorry but it is you who are ignorant (eg uninformed).

tough crowd..

Anyway, I've had my booster for a month or so now. I have a silver one on my 1000 mah silver Ego PT, with a silver cone, a 5" silver gooseneck and a silver ressurector (peeled the paper off), filled with Gorilla Juice with a ming tip( no silver ones available yet, don't care for the SS one...lol ).. It measures exactly 14 inches long !! Very ergonomic.. I only use it at home, car and work. Everyone calls it my Hookah.. And I love the thing..
It adjusts enough to make a BIG difference to me on 2.0, 3.0, dual coil, XLs, all of them...I don't use anything but cartos, athough I just ordered a carto tank to try. I fill ALOT!! Constant vaper..
I keep putting a Provari and accessories in the shopping cart, and then think... why ? I really don't think I need this.. Its not the money, just really satisfied with this set up.
As for going out.. a 650 Ego, the EB and a Boge shorty...Its all good..
I haven't had the occasion to use it, but have read Artisan and Happy Vapor really back up the booster well on any issues.
Just a IMHO... good luck all !!

Oh and P.S. the Provari is made, or at least supplied, less than an hour north of me, in Monroe, WA.

I've just bought one of these and using it right now with a CE3 XL smokeymizer on a pass through batt, and it's awesome. Some posters have hit the nail on the head with where this lovely little device is best pitched - people like me who have a drawer full of Ego/Tornado kit and want a convenient way to VV without it being necessary to invest in a whole range of other kit. And the fact is, some of us just like to use our Egos.

It's not like this is a binary choice, I can still have a big batt tube or box mod, but this gives me a VV device that's under 7" long with a 650mah and standard cone tank atty - that's pretty compact and sleek for when you're out and about. It's all about the flexibility. I'd like it to be cheaper and no doubt it will be, but for me it delivers. Love it.

PS - Oh, and another little fringe benefit is that it resurrects previously dead atties - dial it right up and I'm getting some decent vape out of them. Win.

Again, name me 1 VV mod that is its size, weight, overall convenience and can go through any airport security in the world, past the dumbest security agent without a hassle? When you do that, you found a competitor for the EB and something I will buy immediately. Till then there is no other option, whatever the price is.
