EHPRO Kayfun Lite Clone

Mine came in today! Ordered yesterday at 4pm lol

Anyways there are a couple differences I noticed but it looks very good. Ill post some pics shortly after I empty and clean out my KFL and show you guys exactly.

Ok so here's the deal

Clone on left real KFL on right

Top cap of the clone is a straight edge. Not beveled like the KFL

Don't mind my burnt insulator. Gonna replace it now. I don't know what's up with the screw holes on the side of the terminal blocks, Maybe that will allow some different builds.

The clones oring for the chimney isn't visible. It's captured like a carto tank

Other than those things and the frosted tank opposed to clear its pretty spot on, all the major parts are interchangeable. I have not tried the mallet parts like screws and the terminals or pos pin

All the main body's parts just thread together.

I noticed the center pins air hole on the clone is a bit smaller than the 1/16 on the KFL. I just drilled the clones hole out with a 1/16 bit. Super easy to do

I wouldn't say crunchy. They are pretty smooth but India have some left over metal shavings that I picked out of some of them

So I just built a 1phm micro. 8or 9 wraps of 28g on at 1/16 bit, 3 strands of cotton yarn, wicked per KFL manual and I had major leaking. Noticed the bottom ring doesn't fit very toght against the base so I threw another oring from the spares, so there is two of them and it made a great seal.

Seems to be vaping great so far

Before I drilled the hole in the center post it was way tighter than the KFL. After I drilled it, it seems pretty spot on

But I may drill the air hole in the base to 1/16 as well. I don't wanna do it to my KFL and mess it up. At least this clone was not too too expensive

I've found that you can tune that issue, to a degree, by using a smaller bore drip tip... or inversely, a larger one, if it's restrictive. You can also fit a (very modest) restriction to the air tube (as referred to by bustabo)... but you run the risk of running "rich".

Ya, EDO, those screws were annoying. But it prolly took about 10 minutes total with some sand paper and a pair of pliers to hold the screws to sand those suckers down.

As far as the drip tip situation. If you have different size orings to go on them you might have better luck getting them to fit. I had to do some swapping around between my drip tips to get them to fit properly; but the connection for the drip tip does seem a little smaller than it should be.

As far as performance for the price. Once you deal with the quirks already mentioned, it works as you would expect a KFL to perform I suppose. With that said, if you have the extra 25 bucks or so I would prolly stick with the Russian 91%. The crunchy threads of the EHPRO is the deal breaker for me. Also, I totally understand the appeal of the Russian now with the adjustable draw. The EHPRO is like sucking through a straw. It is way too airy for my liking. Hopefully someone with both the original Kayfun Lite and EHPRO can compare the air flow.

Thomas...so you were able to get some of your other drips tips to fit? I couldn't get any of mine to even get close to fitting.....the steel part of the drip tips wouldn't go inside the chamber....forget about the oring going in there. Looking at the pictures provided it seems I was right the heads on the screws are very small compared to the Kayfun. The small heads make rebuilding the coils on the clone very fiddly. I just don't get why they did that....very long screws with small heads. As far as the crunchy threads mine are a lot less crunchy today then they were yesterday. It seems the quality control on these is pretty poor.

As far as the draw on these it is pretty light for sure. I tried making it tighter using various methods but the vape becomes super hot and the taste becomes off with the tighter draw...not to mention it starts to flood.

Nice to hear about those threads EDO. Ya, I have a baggy of various size orings from old drip tips and with some mixing and matching I was able to get some different drip tips to fit.

This thing vapes pretty darn good. Its now my all day vape that I bring to work. My KFL has been getting pretty beat up. I'm running a 9 wrap of 28g on a 1/16 bit. About 1.2 ohms. Not a single issue

Great device if you don't mind tinkering.

KFL is easily worth the higher price tho

Have you folks who have long screws (it's early, too early to change the wording of that) been able to use any other attie screws as replacements? Like, the Aga T2 screws, for example. It was mentioned that the screw heads themselves were small, i was maybe going to replace them if possible.

Sorry sdotsd I cant say if other screws fit. I just opted to sand them down. As far as the screw heads beings too small, and they are, if you are not using anything thinker than 30 kanthal you shouldn't have a problem catching the wire between the screw head and the deck.

I was pondering the idea of ordering the spare oring and screw set from vaperev (which I think is about 3 bucks) to see if the deck screws in the kit fit the clone. Perhaps bustabo can check for us if the original Kayfun deck screws fit on the deck of the clone

I generally prefer to use 28g kanthal, maybe I will look into that spare screw set, also. I spose I could also just take the thing into Ace Hardware and find some screws that fit.

Right now my only complaint is the small screw heads. The threads were pretty crunchy in the beginning. But now after playing around with it for a while they are pretty smooth. The airy draw I got used to. The vape is very warm with the airy draw....if the draw was much tighter it would be down right hot. Since I use 28g wire I have hard time catching the wire with these ridiculously small screws. If anyone finds good replacement screws please let us know.

I figured maybe we are doing this all wrong and the screws were meant to go into the side holes of the deck. I tried this and it worked like a dream...very easy set up. Basically the wires go through the top of the deck and when you tighten the screw from the sides they catch the wire. But there was one big problem.... the chimney wouldn't fit back on if you inserted the screws from the side. SO that idea went down the drain...lol. I don't get what those side holes are for.

So, I have put two full tanks through this thing and I'm liking it a lot. So far, knock on wood, i haven't had any gurgling or dry hits. Vapor and flavor are dang good. The throat hit for me is a little much but I'm almost positive that adjusting the height of the coil form the air intake will fix this. The draw on it, I'm getting use to it, it's not all that bad I guess.

Glad to hear positive things about it. I have one on it's way as well. Can you post some pictures of your modifications/setup? Is the draw that bad where you need to drill it or is it just your preferred choice?

I think the draw was way too tight. I'm just so used to the KFL and I don't like change. It was VERY easy to drill the hole in the post. I will take pics whenever I rebuild it. Probably wont be too soon. Waiting for 26 and 27g to come in from temco.

I have not had a single dry hit. I did have gurgling but that was after I rushed to refill it and probably created too much pressure in the tank.

I'm impressed with it so far.

Bustabo, you are right, the draw on this thing is almost unbearable. Did you do your drilling on a press?
