What do you think of this study that just came out showing that virtually no nicotine is delivered by ecigs?
E-Cigarettes Deliver Little or No Nicotine, Study Finds

"Ten puffs from either of these electronic cigarettes with a 16-mg nicotine cartridge delivered little to no nicotine," according to the study led by researcher Thomas Eissenberg of the university's Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies, who added: "They are as effective at nicotine delivery as puffing on an unlit cigarette."

Jolly interesting Karen!

Thanks for posting that!

I think measuring nic levels in the blood can be an effective measure, but asking the patient about cravings? How does that factor in. Some people crave a habit that the PV may not secciate.

I'm curious as to what their method of testing bodily nic content was... They promised it would be published... but the BMJ doesn't have it yet.

whoopdey-damn-doo. if i am not getting nicotine then i have been fooled into not smoking cigarettes. oh, shame on me. so now that i cant even stand the stink of an analog, what to do? let me get a bottle of zero nic on my next order and see if i can use it all day without punching a midget nun up a flight of stairs.

I would like to know which brand of PV the used on the test but I know this for SURE

there is nicotine in ALL the e-liquid brands that I used 12-24 even china brands as well,

they should have tested those as well. I hate "weak" studies that dont include all or

most variables. Yes there might be some trickery with the carts from those supplier or

brands labeling zero or low nicotine containing carts as 16 so to save money on nicotine

costs because its the most expensive ingredient. I get my warm slow buzz from all the

products ive tried even the generic 510 I did to use back then. Expose those models

and brands to the community and let them meet their maker! Shut'um down.

In a related story people who had never seen a car before were handed the keys to a corvette and couldn't get it to move.

Corvettes don't operate correctly!!!

Now I don't think PG and VG are actually very good delivery devices for nicotine but so what? It was certainly good enough to get me off tobacco for good so it's good enough for me.

I highly doubt that is accurate...not to say that they lied, but something may not have been done correctly during the test.

I.E. - Tested for presence of nicotine too early/too late.
Users weren't inhaling/treated it like a cigar/were afraid to inhale/etc.
Many other possibilities.

The placebo effect is an effect that is to be expected, and no doubt there is a percentage of people on this forum who would have been able to quit smoking through the use of a PV even if they were given 0mg nicotine liquid but were told it was the mg of their choosing. (which would be essentially the same thing as using a PV and the nicotine liquid of your choice, only to have none of that nicotine being absorbed into your system without you knowing it)

But there is NO WAY that ALL of the people on this forum who have managed to quit smoking did so because of the placebo effect. It's statistically impossible.

There is nicotine being absorbed through the use of a PV.

I loathe the term e-cigs/e-cigarettes, etc. Kind of like calling a paintball marker a GUN.

Well, if there is SO little nicotine delivery, why not just leave all us vapers alone, to happily vape away, knowing that it's even LESS haermful, since we aren't getting all the nicotine we thought we were?

So, what's the next party line that these ...... are going to try? Looks like they got the rope around their collective necks, and are denying that they've already jumped off the edge of the cliff, and are about the reach the end of that tether!
