Honestly, there have been some bad coils out there. No one is able to pin it on any one vendor as far as I know.
They appear to be in the minority.
When the stock coils in the GS Air are good, they are very good! Excellent bang for the buck.
But when they are bad, it hurts the reputation bad...and makes me feel bad a tank I recommend highly, craps on a user.
In my experience, the stock 1.5 coils are great.
That's true, but there has been some bad coils floating around. IMRs had a bad run over the summer of some coils bought
from reputable vendors. A couple of other folks have had this issue...but no one can pin it down as to where they might be
coming from.
Thanks for the replies.
Just getting my 76 year old Dad to consider trying this has been difficult. I was hoping I had found something simple and easy for him. I guess I will have him save bad coils for me so I can build them for him.
I am sure I missed it somewhere, where do I find the coil build info?

Hi Partspro and welcome. Don't despair! You have found a simple and easy setup for your Dad. I promise. I've been using GS Airs for a long time--since February, if I remember correctly. Never had a bad coil--ever. Not one. I know I'm jinxing it, but so be it. All stock coils are disposable, inexpensive, and sooner or later one of them will fail. It doesn't matter if it's made by Kanger or Aspire or Eleaf. Nature of the beast.

A few tips: make sure you prime your coils correctly, especially those vertical ones. They are often packed quite densely and if the wick is not fully saturated, you'll develop a hot spot and burn the wick (it's cotton). Just drip a few drops of your juice directly into the coil head--a couple of drops from the top and from the sides and let the liquid get absorbed. Fill your tank and wait a couple of minutes to make sure that the juice from the tank penetrates the wicking material. Don't start vaping at high wattages--take a couple of gentle draws to make sure that the coil is working and wicking properly. Only then can you adjust your wattage up--if/when necessary.

My cousin's best friend's sister heard a rumor that a guy in Czechoslovakia had an Air coil go bad
and explode causing a sonic boom felt in Iceland...should he check his gaskets?
Maybe the wattage is too high?

Was that the one that caused the ash cloud over Iceland !!!!!!!!

Thank you so much,
I am not so much in despair about the GS Air M as I am about my Dad's health. I have been vaping for over a year now myself and it's actually a huge success for me. I started with the little Kanger throwaway tanks, moved on to the Protanks and EVOD glass (and all those coils) then moved to rebuildables. I have had Kayfuns, Lemos, Aquas, etc. and use some of those today with zero nicotine.
My health has improved to the point that I no longer have to use a daily steroid inhaler for asthma.
Dad's health is another story. He now has Beurgers which causes his blood vessels to shut down the blood supply to his extremities when he uses nicotine. He is in severe pain as his fingers are dying. If he continues to use nicotine he will wind up losing fingers, toes, hands, feet, etc.
If I lived closer, I would just set him up with a Lemo or two. But I had really hoped a few of these with a supply of coils would be just the ticket.
I am probably worrying needlessly but
I appreciate everyone's help here and will check out Cheech's blog when I get a chance.
Have a great day

If you ever recoiled the Protanks and Evods, the GS Air 1.5 coils are not much different.
Good luck to you with your Father! I hope you are able to help him.

I will send somebody a good length of Sally's rayon for a small number of used 1.5s. I'd like to try them.

Wow!!! I must have gotten 5,000 coils already. How did everybody get my address? :D

If you included your return address, watch the mail for your 500 ft. box of rayon. I'll be sending them out as soon as I get a round tuit.

Thanks..

But we're supposed to call tomorrow...

  • Second, please take a moment, on Wednesday, October 28th, to
Call the White House at 202-456-1111.
We have provided talking points below.

  • I am calling to urge President Obama to protect consumer choice and demand that the FDA re-work its Tobacco Deeming Regulations so that the existing wide variety of e-cigarette and vapor products can remain on the market.

  • As written, the FDA’s proposed e-cigarette regulations will remove 99.9% of vapor products from the market.

  • Please briefly share your personal story about switching to vapor products. Make sure to include any improvements in health you have experienced or, perhaps, that your doctor has observed. If the variety of flavors are important to you, be sure to mention that too.

  • Thank you. I hope we can count on the President to protect adult access to these life-saving products.
