Not quite, Fran........it's not metering. Did something off; probably with the negative & positive wires.

Made a beautiful coil on a 2mm mandrel, 28kanthal wire, but still not getting a meter read.
Be sure you're trying to meter/dry fire it with the coil in a GS base. Though the coil will Fit in an Evod/PT base, it won't read at all in one of those.

To prevent a wire from touching inside the coil, hold your mandrel, drill bit (in my case) or whatever your coil is on Tight against the coil base with two fingers and pull the leads at the bottom fairly tight and fold them over the edge. Then put the pin in and snip the leads close.

I had six beautiful coils made and couldn't for the life of me figure out why it wouldn't meter until I read your post!!!!

THANK YOU! Metered at 1.32........close enough.

That hadn't occurred to me. Spend a lot of time scratchin' and clawin' at that coil to get the cap off.
The manhole cover is the pain on those coils....:glare:
I've managed to get them back on quite a few times, but also have ruined a few by dishing the manhole cover and also by ripping the insulator!

Hurray! We all knew you could do it! The next trick is to get just the right amount of cotton in the coil! Now that depends, With cotton not too tight, with rayon a bit tighter as they react to wetting a bit different,

I had a dismal record with the manhole covers too, whereas my record with the Cap coils is great...except for the first one
I ever took apart. It did not survive the operation. To be fair, no one knew how to get them apart and what it contained. :D
I've had the most success with screwing them into a base then placing the manhole cover and something like a thick key, or something else that has the right sized hole to allow the little round projection around the vape hole not to get quashed when I then smack it with a very small hammer to seat the manhole cover. Tried squeezing it with pliers and that, is where I dished the manhole cover the second time, the first was smacking it with the hammer without protecting the little protrusion!

Just had the chance to vape on my rebuilt GS Air........I really can't believe I did this, and am so appreciative of all the help you guys gave to me. A big worry has been lifted from my shoulders.

The flavor is so clean tasting and enhanced! I used KGD w/28g kanthal and it came out to 1.32Ω, and that's good enough for now. I have plenty more spent coils to play around with!

I really want to try rayon, but that bag at Sally's is so big!! Is there a site where I can buy a smaller amount?

Again, thanks all!!!! :) :)

I used the 325 mesh that was recommended!

Yes, you did say that....you had more confidence it me than I had in myself......thank you, my friend!

Congratulations, @Flowersoul ! Now try the 29g Kanthal.

There was a time you were able to get a small Graham rayon baggie from many e-cig vendors, like Kidney Puncher (where I got mine--3 ft or so). But I don't see them anymore. I suggest you ask in the big rayon thread--they should know:

Rayon Wick - Better Flow, Flavor, Longevity, and Nic Hit!! - Pt.2
OK.....will take a look at that!

    I've got so much 28, it's laughable, but I will get some 29!!! :)

It's so dirt cheap, I'd just get the big bag and have it for life. You can make a pillow or something with the excess.
    Congrats on the learning process!!

Congratulations on becoming self sufficient! You now have a fresh coil whenever you want without a thought to ordering more!
There was never a doubt in my mind any of you could do this. If a highly motivated, strategically shaved monkey such as myself
    can do it, you can!

Go straight to Temco. Free shipping and great quality. I only buy from them.
As usual, @Katya is dispensing great advice! Consistent performance from Temco wire.
Not so much from various vendors IMHO and experience.

And it has nothing to do with vaping, so FDA proof to boot! ;)
