WIth respect, I think you can make it work pretty easily with just a little practice.
As an experiment, I just wiggled the caps off of two different 1.5 ohm gs-air coils.
One was mounted on a protank base, the other on the afc base of a gs-air M.
You are correct. The coil sits a tad lower on the gs-air base, but I got both caps off with about five seconds of gentle rocking.

I haven't been posting a great deal this last couple of weeks - I spilled a glass of water over my computer in Spain and lost the use of the letters "t" and "y" - until you do this you really don't realise how much you use them!

Now back in Scotland for a bit, the first thing I did was to order another couple of GS Air atties and five packets of 0.78 coils from Heaven Gifts ( Dragon Boat Festival sale got me 15% off ) - at the present rate, using such a set up these coils alone should keep me going for at least 2.5 years!

Best to all...

He's probably still using all his mods with 510 connection. :D

The simplest solution--and it will also check your resistance:

$7.55 Atomizer Resistance Tester (Ohm Meter) - 510 connector / 2*AA / stainless steel + plastic at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Yep, that is what I used........and perfect for me.

I ended up digging out an old ego and screwed on an old kanger base. The ego is plenty to hang onto while taking the cap of a gs coil.
This is what I did, also.

Gently rock back and forth and it will pop off. First time is the hardest. :)
Got the hang of that pretty quick!

I knew ya could do it,Gracie:)
Not quite, Fran........it's not metering. Did something off; probably with the negative & positive wires.

Here's the original recoiling video, longer and painful to watch, but might help...

Oh, indeed it did!!!! That's the one I was looking for, and in my confusion, totally forgot to go to YouTube, so THANK YOU!

Made a beautiful coil on a 2mm mandrel, 28kanthal wire, but still not getting a meter read.......will have to look more closely at the video to see what wire goes in, what wire goes out......LOL I *think* that's my problem, anyway.....not sure!

Although this is a CLR coil, the principle is exactly the same for the leads coming out the bottom in relation to the grommet:

Yep, I do believe that is exactly where I went wrong....
Again, thank you so much, Cheech!

You are welcome, now you can help others.
A simple test to see if it's your coil touching the sides causing a short in the base is to take a small piece of paper
and slide it between the coil and the base. If the reading goes to normal, you know one of the sides of the coil was
touching the side of the base. Easy-peasy. :)

makes no diff which wire...

just as long as they don't touch inside and / or anything outside

just keep making them, throw away make another (practice)

use too much (longer) wire at first so to get " a feel " for it
and it makes it easier to manipulate...

good luck !

There for a bit I was afraid she might have been trying to wiggle off the top of a 1.2 or TC coil, which have those "Manhole" covers instead of the outer cap! The TC coils are actually easier to rewick since they have two larger oblong hole for the juice to flow through and you can just pull out the old and slide in the new wick without having to take off the manhole cover, unless you want to put in a new coil also! You can rebuild them with any wire you want to just about any resistance also. no no mesh or SS screen needed as the wick fills the juice hole! Now if I could just find a fool proof way of reinstalling those darned manhole covers!

That hadn't occurred to me. Spend a lot of time scratchin' and clawin' at that coil to get the cap off.
The manhole cover is the pain on those coils....:glare:
