One of the original dual 1.5's. It was totally black and even after soaking in pga, UC and dry burning I could not get the gunk off the coils. The wick looked like coal.
I played with the 1.5's when I first got the GS Air tank to try and figure out a way to reuse the coils.
It just wasn't gonna happen, they were nasty inside!

I'm a chain vaper and forgetful to boot! With kanthal coils, I sometimes don't notice the tank is getting empty and a dry hit of burnt cotton tastes really nasty, It also means I have to rebuild that coil, as that taste doesn't go away! In TC mode with Nickel or Titanium coils, I can get away with it, as it won't let the coil get hot enough to burn the cotton, just refill the tank and get back to vaping! The ONLY reason I have kanthal wire is I am too cheap to toss the iStick 20W, which doesn't do TC!
One day I'll break down and throw my hat over the fence and try TC.
Lotsa frugality on this thread!

If we weren't frugal on this thread, we all would own 5 or 6 Titanium Kabukis (@ $150 ea.) but probably STILL INSIST on rebuilding the Nautilus coil heads. Gotta chase down that last bit of goodness!

I look and slobber, but I am so over shinyitis! I have the Airs and they take care of me just fine for my needs.
But I still like to window shop and kick the tires once in a while.:D

Anyone here ever tried the Aspire K1 tanks and coils? They compare pretty well to the GS-Tank, well except for being taller and holding even less ejuice that is, but for flavor and mouth to lung, they really shine! They are also dirt cheap, just no Air control, two holes is what you get, no adjustment except with a drill and bit! Though they really don't need that, as they are pretty much perfect right out of the box! Oh, and the coils are just like the GS-Air Kanthal ones! ;)

I reuse them all the time as long as they are viable. I get the wicks out, dry burn them clean, throw them in the UC for a few cycles then rewick and all the other stuff that goes with it.

boiy , aint dat da truff

I have lost all the thrill of 'chasing' vape-gear (for me)
I've put together my ideal set up and I am content...
I have even found myself carrying only a single device due to the fact it/they are so dependable...
dare I say - it's like how smoking was - carry a pac & a lighter o_O (simplicity)

I still enjoy the search-n-browse to see where the ecig tech is going
it is of phenomenal interest the advancement that comes almost everyday...
then of course keeping up with the peeps in here :toast:

ps: is there ECF troubles tonight-other sites are doing fine, but ECF seems to be very slow...

I think I am over VGAS as well.
Ordered a backup Istick Basic. Otherwise not really interested on getting anything else.
I literally have enough supplies to not have to buy anything at all for over a year.
the only thing that has tickled my interest at all is the Goblin Mini V2. Maybe a birthday present in April?

Been vaping for 14 months and have acquired 13 mods of varying types, tanks, clearos, etc and still spent only about 1/3 of what I spent on smoking which was about 150/mo. I bought most mods on clearance and got some really great deals.

4 years and wish I had the money back I spent on the newest and greatest that were neither...
But you're right, it's cheaper than smoking and healthier!

Yep about 1/3 of what I spent is already passed on to others.
And aside from my knuckles being dry and muscle cramps in my forearms and my feet stinking I feel much better.

3 years into it here, and I must say for the most part (compared to some I read - jeez!)
I have held off the big 'spend'...

•in the beginning-kinda made a choice, then stuck with it to perfection...
•then recently took it up a notch and did it again (presently trying to perfect)

so perhaps, with the vapeocolypse looming, I should be good to go for the long haul... (hopefully)

I discovered, learned, experimented, and now live as a vapor`er

:tumble:

That was the surprising feature of the original 1.5 ohm coils, they lasted forever.
Folks were reporting weeks and weeks of use, but I don't think I ever heard of one going
more than two months. I really can't say I change my recoils due to lack of performance,
just get a wild hair and decide to change the coil. A recoil lasts me a week.
I had a GS Air coil 1.5 that lasted one day short of 10 weeks! About 2.5 months! I vaped approx. 12ml a day through it at 6.5 to 7.5 watts (depending on the level the ohm had gotten to, of course..I generally like my particular juice at around 3.4volts.) The last one I put in (after that long lasting one) went for 4 weeks but then the ohms had gotten so high (over 2ohm) at that point, and seemed to be running so hot, I decided it was time to let it go. Working on the next one, now.
((BTW...that one that lasted over 2 months ...it looked fine when I took it apart. The flavor had just gotten rather muted, and since it'd been so long I decided to retire it.)

FABULOUS! Even if you threw it away thats HUGE, but now if you can rebuild it, you could possibly get another ten weeks out of the same little fella .... and over and over .....

It's okay that you mixed it up in there because it won't make much difference. Once you strip them down, you start new again, when rebuilding them.
You'll find the right day to start rebuilding, it's just probably not today. :)
