We're all cheering for you!

Thanks Nanny! :)

You have a ton of encouragement and support here to join the ranks of Air recoilers!
You guys are so supportive, and I can't wait till I'm a full member of the rank recoilers. :)

Good luck,Gracie:):) I know you can do it.
Thanks Fran! I'm gonna give it my all!

Can any of the parts of the .75 coils be salvaged as spare parts for later use in the 1.5 coils?
Gaskets, o rings, grommets and bottom pins. That's the stuff I strip off 'em. Never plan on doing vertical coils again, tried every which way but loose and
it's not worth the time and trouble. :D

What the heck is with the lag on this dang board!

I ordered some 29 gauge kanthal and a sheet of 400 SS mesh. Will go to Sally's for some rayon. Have assorted scissors, nail clippers and mini screwdrivers.

I have a bunch of working Air-Ms to pry the cap off, but nothing to screw the coil into to stabilize it.

Is there a "machine bolt" I can buy and secure to a piece of wood or something?

Note: I have never built a coil and am having issues even re-wicking a subtank OCC coil (3 x RBA Plus in the mail).
Before you know it, you'll be putting out your own video on recoiling and rewicking the Air coils! :thumb:

Thanks, Cheech. That's the stuff I was wondering about. I have quite a few .75 that I'll eventually be able to strip down for goodies.

You can leave the coil screwed in a Air M base on a Battery or Mod and use needlenose to take the shroud off the coil.

I hold the coil in my fingers when putting the wick in and wrapping it with gauze.
I will sometimes rewick with the coil in a base and on an iStick.

One hint I've never heard is to really spend some time getting your wick "spear" ready. Twist that sucka TIGHT. Rayon shrinks when wet, you almost can't put too much in. Sometimes I'll get a little Bump part in the wick that won't let the "spear" go through any more and I'll even pull the wick a Bit Back out, roll it some to get the bump out and pull back through. Make it Tight.

I press the shroud back on using regular pliers and an old GS MS base with buggered 510 threads.

Thanks @OcalaFlGuy

I haven't tried wicking anything with rayon yet. Ran a new subtank OCC coil dry and burned it. Have been trying to re-wick that. I may have just succeeded. I think I was using too much cotton.

I tried removing the cap from the 1.5 coil with an M top while it was screwed into an Air. It was sitting to low to get it to "snap" off.

I ordered an Evod from Slowtech just for the base. It was a lousy 3 bucks.

I'm wondering if I shouldn't have ordered the 325 or 350 mesh instead of the 400.

400 will work fine depending on your PG/VG ratio. 325 is the best bet for all purposes.
If the mesh doesn't wick well with the higher mesh, remove the cap and the mesh and fluff the wick a bit to
make sure it's contacting the mesh. Also make sure the wicks line up with two of the cap holes.

Well, I'm trying, I'm really trying.

Maybe I'm a bit too tired to get it right now, but I have watched the video for about an hour, and I need to study it more.

I have a lil container that I put my Evod battery, the infamous blue screw driver, the mesh and a coil that is going to be massacred, but have to let it go for today, otherwise I will lose my Sicilian temper!!!

I'm not giving up, just putting it off till the morrow......one of my mantras is 'persistence overcomes resistance', and I will apply it to this.

Things like learning always seem better the next day after a rest, then the day after, it even gets better.:)
